Your Machop Needs to Be Registered! The Streamer Knows Too Much About Poké Balls! (Please Follow)
Classic "I'm not an expert."
First time seeing the streamer being so modest. Looks like he really wasn't confident.
It was fine. Big Friend was built like a bull; he wouldn't be beaten to death anytime soon. His margin for error was high!
Seeing those savage comments, Ye Yinchuan wanted to laugh but had to hold it in. He could only copy Nicolas Cage's signature gesture and partially cover his face.
Look, the streamer was already trying not to laugh at the thought of the nonsense he was about to spout.
His next-door neighbor must have had a son. That was why he was so happy.
"Alright, some of you need to stop being so funny."
Ye Yinchuan forcibly kept a straight face, nearly giving himself internal injuries as he said,
"Big Friend, your top priority now is to register at the Pokémon Center and get a Poké Ball ready. Of course, the environment inside a Standard Ball is a little worse, and it might make this kid more irritable. If you can afford it, choose a better Poké Ball."
In the Pokémon World, some Pokémon had to be registered at the Pokémon Center once they reached a certain size or danger level.
Some Pokémon were forcibly required to have Poké Balls and were not allowed to be casually summoned in public.
Pokémon that met the standards set by the Pokémon Center but had not been registered there were considered Unlicensed Pokémon.
If discovered, their owners could receive warnings, fines, or even confiscation, depending on their intent and the degree of harm caused!
The most common standards could be roughly summarized in three points—
First, Pokémon that reached the size and weight of large Pokémon. For example, if Ye Yinchuan's Little Snorlax exceeded two hundred jin, it technically needed to be registered.
Second, Pokémon on the Pokémon Control List. Charmander was fine, but once it evolved into Charmeleon, it needed to be registered. Aggressive Tauros were also on the list.
Third, Pokémon that posed potential danger due to various factors. For example, this Chao Xiong Machop had a genetic defect. Others might have severely problematic Natures, or possess extremely powerful Moves that made them living weapons.
"Alright! I was planning to register it voluntarily too!"
Da Ji Ba in the camera sat upright and nodded, like a student listening attentively. It contrasted sharply with his body full of bulging muscles.
Serious question: what does it mean that the environment inside a Standard Ball is bad?
When Ye Yinchuan saw that comment, he hadn't expected someone to know absolutely nothing about Poké Balls.
"The principle behind Poké Balls, aside from catching wild Pokémon, is to provide Pokémon with a residence or restrict their movements. Since it's a residence, there's space inside. And where there's space, there are better and worse environments, just like the homes we live in. A Poké Ball is a Pokémon's home."
No wonder Poké Balls were so expensive. Even the most basic ones cost a thousand. That was almost more expensive than some Pokémon!
No way. Pokémon are so huge. Can they really live inside those things?
Ye Yinchuan had already looked up the relevant information, so he had a certain understanding of the construction and principles of Poké Balls in this Pokémon World.
Unlike in the games, Pokémon could not be turned into data and transmitted through computers like files. At least, this world did not yet possess that technology.
And the principles of Poké Balls did not conform to that sort of "data conversion" theory either. They simply contained a small internal space. That was all.
Just thinking about it made it obvious. A Poké Ball that sold for only a thousand couldn't possibly be so high-end that it possessed advanced spatial technology such as "a world within one's sleeve," "spatial teleportation," or "interdimensional space."
Unless they were special natural Poké Balls made from Mystic Berries.
Standard Balls definitely weren't among them!
As for how Pokémon entered such tiny Poké Balls—
"Don't you know? Pokémon all have the ability to shrink themselves voluntarily. Usually, though, they only use it after being seriously injured, when they need to evade danger and recover. Shrunk Pokémon are relatively more vulnerable, so they won't use it unless absolutely necessary."
"Don't argue in the comments. This is the explanation given by the Pokémon Association. If you don't believe me, go check the official website. Yes, Poké Balls simulate the environment of Dark Cave, but there are actually huge differences inside Poké Balls of different grades. For example, Standard Balls have nothing. Great Balls, on the other hand, have better environments and provide Pokémon with micro-devices for rest and even entertainment."
By "Great Balls," Ye Yinchuan meant Poké Balls of a higher grade than Standard Balls.
In the Pokémon games, translation issues had made Great Balls seem stronger than Ultra Balls, which was rather counterintuitive.
But in this Pokémon World, "Great Ball" referred to an entire category. The next grade above Great Balls was called a Master Ball, though some people also called it an "Ultra Ultra Ball."
Ye Yinchuan, with his OCD over wording, wholeheartedly approved.
As for the fact that Pokémon in this world could shrink, unlike the official setting of Professor of West Village Experiment Theory, the Pokémon Association had never clearly stated who discovered it.
It was probably something discovered very early on.
Wow, I checked. Ultra Balls cost five times as much as Standard Balls!
Master Balls are even crazier. They cost four times more—twenty thousand each!
Ye Yinchuan deeply agreed with the comments' astonishment.
He had been shocked too when he first found out.
After all, Standard Balls in the games cost two hundred each—and that was yen. You could casually buy ninety-nine at a time...
But in reality, unless it was necessary, most people were reluctant to spend even a thousand on a Standard Ball!
"Come to think of it, once my Little Snorlax gets enough nutrition, its weight will soon break through the two-hundred-jin mark. Then I'll have to register it and buy a Poké Ball too..."
Ye Yinchuan glanced at Little Snorlax. While it was usually fine not to register it,
he was a streamer. If someone reported him and the authorities investigated strictly, it could still become a minor hassle.
Besides, although Poké Balls were only necessary when going out, Little Snorlax had saved his life and was also family. Ye Yinchuan wanted to buy Little Snorlax a better Poké Ball.
He had heard that the environment in a Standard Ball was like a person living in a nine-square-meter studio. It could only provide the most basic rest.
Many Pokémon would therefore resist entering Poké Balls, or even develop the instinct that "Poké Balls are uncomfortable." Later, even if they switched to a better Poké Ball, it would be difficult to correct that impression!
Oh, right. Although Poké Balls in this world did not have "a world within one's sleeve,"
different Poké Balls came in different sizes.
A standard Standard Ball had a diameter of forty millimeters, while an Ultra Ball had a diameter of fifty millimeters. For Pokémon that had shrunk, that was still a substantial increase in space.
Also, although all Pokémon could shrink, different Pokémon had different shrinking limits. Pokémon capable of shrinking more would have relatively more space inside their Poké Balls.
But that didn't have much practical significance, so there was no need to dwell on it.
"At the very least, it should be an Ultra Ball. Five thousand was the price of a mid-to-high-end phone. If everything goes smoothly, I should still be able to afford it..."
That was why owning a Pokémon was only the beginning. The real expense was all the care and training that followed.
Just Little Snorlax's basic food and its Poké Ball were already like a money pit. Ordinary people really couldn't afford it.
Oh, right. Registration had to be paid out of pocket too. It was only eight hundred yuan, but money was money!
This expense and that expense. Not enough money! Really not enough money!
"I understand, Streamer. Master Balls are too expensive, but I can still afford an Ultra Ball. If its living environment is better, this kid's mood will be better too."
Da Ji Ba strongly agreed.
"Mm, let me continue. The second point is that you should not let this Machop level up for now. If it evolves into Machoke, I'm afraid it'll punch you to death when it goes berserk! You understand, right?"
"Understood, understood..."
Da Ji Ba looked at Machop, feeling frightened as well.
Machop had already beaten him into this state. If it evolved into Machoke, he would probably end up in the ICU.
"Third, you need to better understand its Nature and habits. Pokémon are like humans; emotions always have causes. Even irritability happens because something has touched upon the point that angers it..."
Upon hearing that, Da Ji Ba couldn't help revealing an enlightened expression.
I didn't expect the streamer to know psychology too?
You don't get it. Professional breeders need to understand Pokémon psychology!
But this guy's an appraisal streamer...
Can't be helped. The streamer is just too well-rounded!
I added some details to the Poké Ball setting based on the original work, to flesh out the worldbuilding. I'm trying to portray a Pokémon World that feels as real as possible. I originally planned to appraise a new Pokémon, but I couldn't hold back and brought back the Chao Xiong Machop instead, which closed the loop on that plot. New chapter tomorrow, guaranteed! After that, we'll move on to other storylines. Please support with follows and votes! pouts
