Lin Shen gritted his teeth. He had already caught it anyway. Since it was not trying to escape, he might as well feel around and find out what the thing was.
The part Lin Shen had grabbed felt as thick as an arm, but when his fingers squeezed it, it deformed accordingly, as though it had no bones.
Suppressing the flutter in his heart, Lin Shen reached out with his other hand to feel the thing. The sensation beneath both hands was the same—soft and springy, yet extremely smooth.
With only a slight exertion of his fingers, the thing deformed beneath them, as though he were kneading jelly. It simply was not as easily crushed as jelly.
Even after being squeezed out of shape, it did not spring back when Lin Shen released it—or rather, it sprang back very slowly. For a moment, Lin Shen could not make heads or tails of it. He had no idea what this thing was.
Lin Shen felt his way along the thing, only to seemingly return to where he had started. He could still feel the indented finger marks where he had squeezed it out of shape.
Could this be a life preserver? Lin Shen was full of doubt.
Judging from what he had felt, it ought to be a ring-shaped object like a life preserver. But what kind of life preserver could withstand such high temperatures without turning to ash?
What exactly is this thing? Lin Shen was no longer as frightened as before.
The thing seemed to be an inanimate object. No matter how he kneaded or squeezed it, it gave no response at all. Besides, Lin Shen had never seen any creature that looked like a life preserver.
After hesitating for a moment, Lin Shen rose out of the liquid
