Ren Suo opened his eyes, looked at the black cat curled up beside his pillow, and nodded. "Mm... I'll go buy you ice cream now... This time, do you want Lu Xue or Nestlé? What, you still think Golden Arches ice cream tastes better? But I can't bring that one home..."

Ren Suo scratched his head and went to wash up. His entire body felt exhausted, as though he had been beaten up, yet his mind was unusually alert. He felt like he had dreamed last night, but he couldn't recall any of the details, so he didn't dwell on it—after all, waking up exhausted was practically routine for him, a former college student who had stayed up all night gaming.

Perhaps it was one of the aftereffects of the soul spent using a cost-free miracle on the Dark Side of the Moon still recovering?

When Ren Suo came out after brushing his teeth and washing his face, he saw his younger sister poking her head out from the bedroom. "You're up? Are we leaving?"

"Leaving for what?"

"To buy clothes. Didn't you say so yesterday?"

"Now?" Ren Suo checked the time. It was 11:05. If he were at Heavenly Lotus Academy, he probably wouldn't even have woken up yet. "I haven't even had lunch..."

"I told Mom and Dad we won't be eating at home at noon. We'll just come back for New Year's Eve dinner tonight," Ren Xingmei said. "It's been a long time since we went out to eat too."

Ren Suo was still reluctant. "I'm so tired from sleeping..."

"You must've played too much computer," Ren Ma said blandly from the living room sofa, where she was scrolling through her phone. "I told you not to spend so much time on the computer."
