Lin'an City.
At midnight, on Lesser Yingzhou of Three Pools Mirroring the Moon, one of the Three Islands of the Lake Heart in West Lake, the night had grown still. Occasionally, the lake breeze swept past, rustling the spring leaves. The waters inside and outside the island shimmered with ripples, while three stone pagodas stretched the moonlight into long reflections upon the water—the foremost sight of all: Mirroring the Moon.
The breeze swept by, wrinkling West Lake. Yet the wind gradually grew stronger, causing the lake's gleam to flicker with ripples. A black shadow skimmed across the water. Someone was walking upon the lake with Ling Bo's subtle steps.
Lesser Yingzhou was not entirely deserted. Someone was on duty at the Three Pools Mirroring the Moon pier, where bright lights shone like a lighthouse.
The newcomer gave a light leap, soaring through the air before landing at the small dock. The middle-aged man on duty in the security booth glanced at her and pointed north. "They're waiting for you in the little pavilion over there."
"Thanks."
The petite black-haired girl in jeans and a white shirt nodded, yet she did not leave. Instead, she turned around to look behind her.
Unlike when she had come here, hopping and skipping along, this new guest arrived soundlessly. A mist rolled across the lake, reaching the shore in no time and revealing a slender, alluring woman dressed in Han robes.
The security guard was not surprised in the least. He merely lowered his head and continued playing on his phone.
"Long time no see, Tai Bai Plain."
The black-haired girl blinked. "Who are you?"
"I am the Qingqiu Earth Spirit." The woman in Han robes gave the black-haired girl a strange look. "We met once before. Have you forgotten?"
"When did we meet?"
