The First Mission

The next day, after saying goodbye to Audrey and the others, Alex, Steve, and Bucky boarded a warship bound for London. Agent Carter and Howard were also accompanying them.

After a long voyage, the warship finally sailed into London port. Feeling the damp air, Alex couldn't help but complain, "I hate London's climate. It feels like I'm soaking in water."

Colonel Phillips walked past Alex and said expressionlessly, "Don't worry, you won't be staying in London for long!"

"Why does he always give us such a sour look?" Bucky asked, somewhat confused, as he watched Phillips gradually disembark.

"Who cares!" Alex wasn't going to pay attention to Phillips. He turned to Carter and said, "Agent Carter, I need to find someone. You handle Phillips for me for now, I'll be back soon!"

Without waiting for Carter to nod, Alex eagerly jumped off the ship and quickly disappeared into the crowd on the dock.

Following the address left by Eisenhart, Alex asked for directions as he searched. Half an hour later, he found his destination on a narrow street – a low, gray-white apartment building.

"204." Alex looked down at the slip of paper in his hand, pushed open the apartment's nearly rotten wooden door, and walked up the stairs to the second floor. At the end of the hallway, he saw "204."

He knocked, and a middle-aged woman soon opened the door. With hazy eyes, she asked, "Who are you looking for?"

Looking at the middle-aged woman before him, Alex felt a bit strange. "Excuse me, is this the Eisenhart residence?"

After returning to London, everyone had been assigned by the British government to different locations across the country. By the time Alex wanted to find Eisenhart and his son, he had lost track of them. The address on the paper was found for him by Howard through the British military.

"You've got the wrong person!" The middle-aged woman said angrily and was about to close the door.

Alex reacted quickly, sticking his foot in the doorway. "Excuse me, my friend told me he lives here."

"Screw Eisenhart, that devil moved away long ago!" The middle-aged woman stomped hard on Alex's foot, making him flinch in pain.

But as soon as Alex pulled his foot back, the middle-aged woman slammed the door shut with lightning speed. No matter how much Alex knocked, the woman wouldn't open the door.

"Devil? Did Marx do something?" Alex left with his mind full of confusion and helplessness, thinking with some worry, "I hope nothing happens to them."

Upon returning to the encampment, Alex was somewhat dejected. He had originally planned to find Marx and copy his abilities, which would have made everything easier later on. Unfortunately, he didn't know where Marx was now, and it seemed he would have to rely on his own body from now on.

Seeing Alex return, Steve and Bucky immediately swarmed him, their faces full of excitement. "Mr. Stark is going to prepare uniforms for us. I (Steve) designed this one, what do you think?"

Alex put aside his dejection, took a piece of paper from Steve's hand, and looked down at it. He smiled and said, "It's good, I think it's great. Let's make it according to Steve's design!"

Steve's designed uniform was similar to the one in the movie, with the same slicked-back hair cowl and a star-spangled banner outfit. If paired with the iconic shield, Captain America would appear.

"American Brothers, our first mission has arrived!" As he spoke, Carter walked over, a faint smile on her refined face.

"We have a mission already? Don't tell me Phillips is deliberately making things difficult for us?" Alex hadn't expected them to have a mission on their first day in London.

Carter glanced at Alex and asked sternly, "Don't you want to take the mission?"

"Of course not, I couldn't ask for anything more!" Alex pushed Steve forward and whispered, "Captain, it's your turn to shine!"

As expected, sparks flew between Steve and Carter. However, Steve was really not good at chatting with women, so Alex often had to create opportunities for them to talk, in order to help Steve train.

Steve was slightly embarrassed but quickly regained his composure. He looked at Carter and asked seriously, "Carter, what's the mission?"

"Schmidt sent out a unit of two hundred soldiers to meet them, and less than fifty returned. The rest were either killed or captured," Carter said, turning to look at Alex and Bucky. She continued in a low voice, "They were all from the 107th Infantry Regiment, and some of them were your former comrades."

"The mission is to rescue them, right?" Alex's expression turned serious. "Alright, Schmidt, 107th Infantry Regiment, we have no reason not to go."

"I must tell you, these men were originally going to be abandoned. No one was willing to go rescue them," Carter said, looking down at a stack of documents she held. She continued in a low voice, "They are thirty miles behind enemy lines. To rescue them, we must pass through the most heavily guarded areas in Europe, so this mission is extremely dangerous."

Upon hearing this, Alex frowned and pondered for a moment before asking, "Howard hasn't finished preparing our equipment yet, has he?"

"That's right!" Carter nodded.

Alex shrugged and smiled, turning to look at Steve and Bucky. He said loudly, "Then let's go rescue them with our bare hands!"

Taking advantage of the night, Alex and his group set off. Howard flew the plane, carrying the three of them towards Austria, where Hydra had a base and the 107th Infantry Regiment was being held.

In the plane, Alex and the other two wore hastily acquired uniforms. Leaning against the cabin wall, they listened to Carter explain the operation plan: "Hydra's base is in Klausburg, between two mountain ranges, like a factory. We'll drop you off at the entrance."

"Get as close to the target as possible!" Howard said, turning his head to remind them.

"You should return as soon as possible. Hydra's air force is not to be trifled with," Alex remembered that their plane was attacked by the air force in the movie. To be safe, Alex still advised them to leave as early as possible.

As he spoke, Alex walked to the cabin door first. He looked down, and it was pitch black. "Let's go back, we're about to depart!" With that, Alex jumped out of the cabin door. Steve and Bucky exchanged a look and followed him without hesitation.

"Are they crazy?" Carter turned to Howard, looking incredulous as she watched the three disappear completely into the night sky.

Howard chuckled lightly, unconcerned. "Don't worry, Alex is no ordinary person. They'll be fine."

"Alex, what's your plan?" Flying in mid-air, the rapid descent created a strong wind that constantly blew into their mouths, making it difficult for Steve to speak properly. He had to pause between words.

"Let's get down first!" Alex used Teleportation, grabbed Steve and Bucky, and in an instant, they landed on the ground.

"Alex, how did you do that?" Alex's Teleportation hadn't been widely publicized. Only a few people in the Allied forces knew about it, and even fewer ordinary people were aware.

Since they would be fighting together in the future, Alex decided not to hide it from his brothers anymore. "I'm a Mutant, with special abilities. This is my ability." Teleportation was an extraordinary ability, and Alex couldn't explain it, so he could only attribute it to mutant powers.

"Mutant?" Clearly, very few people knew about the existence of Mutants at this time, and Steve and Bucky looked even more confused.

Alex patted their shoulders and smiled, saying, "No matter who I am, we are still brothers. Just remember that."

"Right, we are brothers, American Brothers!"
