The orderly Spirit Soldier Legion surged toward the goblins like a tidal wave. Unlike the formations suited to the wolfman warriors, the formations used by the Spirit Soldier Legion were all native Immortal Village military arrays.
Their strength was perfectly suited to those arrays as well.
With a sweep of the Spirit General's halberd, the enormous legion silently formed into a spearhead. On either side of him, the other Spirit Soldier Legions tacitly formed the spearhead's blades.
Seeing such seamless coordination, the goblin commander made a prompt decision.
"Retreat! Communications officer, report this upward. Tell them we've encountered a civilization-level enemy and demand reinforcements immediately! Hurry!"
With that, the goblin commander threw the wooden scepter symbolizing command authority to his adjutant.
"You'll take over command from here. I need to go to the front and hold them back."
The goblin commander spoke with absolute resolve. Though he knew that once he went, he would most likely never return, as a commander, this was his duty.
He was the Legion Commander of this force, its highest commander and strongest warrior. At a time like this, he had to step forward and steady the troops.
Though the Goblin Legion was elite, these Divine Grace Goblins had never experienced the brutal Abyssal War. They did not know just how terrifying and cruel war could be.
The adjutant was also a veteran of the Abyssal War, so he said nothing unnecessary. After accepting the scepter, he merely gave the Legion Commander a church salute.
"May the Sage watch over you."
The Goblin Legion Commander took his armor and alchemical weapon from an orderly. He then tossed the alchemical weapon aside and casually tore the flesh disguise from his left arm.
As a veteran who had participated in the Abyssal War, he had undergone the
