Amid the crowd, Angelina looked at Baal, who had noticed her, and calmly met his gaze for a moment.
Though she was somewhat surprised to encounter Baal, that was all.
After Richard appeared, Baal no longer had any value. Following the Control Bureau's brainwashing, Baal's memories of that night and even of the Control Bureau had been erased.
Angelina had great faith in the Control Bureau's technology. If they could not even thoroughly erase an ordinary person's memories, then every agent in the Memory Department might as well kill themselves.
"Miss, have we met before?"
Just as Angelina was brimming with confidence, Baal walked toward her and asked uncertainly.
"No." Angelina answered crisply. Then she put on a look of faint disgust. "That pickup line is far too old-fashioned."
"Is that so? Then perhaps I was mistaken."
Noticing Angelina's expression, Baal could not help but give a bitter smile inwardly.
She took me for some guy trying to hit on her.
He did not press the matter. After being turned down, Baal returned to the camp. Yet Angelina's figure lingered stubbornly in his mind. His instincts told him that he had definitely met this woman before. But how could he have no memory at all of such a beautiful woman?
Angelina was a peerless beauty who would catch people's eyes at a glance even without makeup, standing amid a crowd. He did not consider himself some old pedant obsessed with scholarship. If he had ever seen such a beautiful woman, he would definitely remember her.
Could it be because of that last bout of amnesia? Baal pondered.
After briefly washing his face, Baal searched through his memories while eating. Just as he wondered whether he might have lost other memories as well, the leader of this expedition team came over.
