Elter stared at the order from General Headquarters, feeling that the higher-ups had truly gone mad.

Although his legion had been severely depleted, and he was merely the Legion Commander of a wizard legion, with nowhere near the same access to information as General Headquarters, he could be certain that no legion in this world was in any better shape than his.

Before entering this world, his legion had numbered around ten thousand, not counting familiars and slaves. But after entering this world and the war began, its numbers had never returned to that figure.

Reinforcements from above were never enough. That was the norm on the battlefield. Every wizard involved in the war had tacitly accepted it.

But none of that was a reason to abandon the wizard legions.

Wizard legions were a military strategy forged through tens of thousands of years of evolution since the Pioneering Period. Although the Truth Council had continually altered the structure of wizard legions, adding vast numbers of familiars and slaves as auxiliary forces—

The Truth Council had never changed the core of the wizard legion.

Yet now, General Headquarters had actually ordered him to break up his legion and serve as an auxiliary unit for some Heroic Spirit Legions.

Just what kind of Great Wizard had the higher-ups sent over? Even the Staff Department could not talk him out of it.

"No. This is far too absurd. I need to find out what is really going on."

Clutching the order in his hand, Elter turned and walked out of the barracks.

He had to find out whether he had offended some staff officer at General Headquarters and was being deliberately targeted. Otherwise, how could such a ridiculous order possibly have been
