Richard looked behind him and saw a cloud of black flies slowly coalesce into a Black Robe Wizard.
The Black Robe Wizard's face was hidden beneath his hood. Without using the Eye of Truth, Richard was unable to make out his features.
"Who might you be?" Richard asked first.
"As a wizard not from the Curse School, shouldn't you be the one introducing yourself at a time like this?"
Great Wizard Curse Plague's eyes beneath his hood casually swept across Richard's right palm. As a great wizard of the Curse School, his "intuition" was exceptionally keen.
Because of his studies of fate, he could often glimpse tiny fragments of the future.
And at this moment, his intuition told him that Richard's right hand held something capable of posing a lethal threat to him.
"That's true." Richard smiled apologetically. "I'm Richard. I came here under Curse Crown's orders to register my name with the Curse School.
This is my proof."
As he spoke, Richard opened his right hand, revealing the mark Curse Crown had left for him. He believed that this great wizard of the Curse School before him would recognize Curse Crown's handiwork.
Great Wizard Curse Plague looked at Richard's palm. The instant he saw the mark clearly, the expression beneath his hood abruptly turned horrified, and he immediately shifted his gaze away.
"How is that possible? How could Teacher have left you this mark?"
Great Wizard Curse Plague muttered distractedly, as though he had witnessed something beyond his comprehension.
Seeing him like this, Richard could not help but grow curious.
"Master, is there something wrong with the mark the Crown gave me?"
"Nothing wrong! Nothing wrong." Great Wizard Curse Plague suddenly jolted, but then seemed to think of something and relaxed again.
