Background

Amakusa led the Shimabara Rebellion after heavy tribute, crop failures and religious persecution helped ignite the uprising. Chiron describes him as a youth credited with miracles, including healing a blind girl and walking on water. Amakusa died at seventeen 293.

The Einzbern family illegally summoned him as a Ruler in the Third Holy Grail War. His class ability, True Name Revelation, offered them an advantage in gathering information, but Darnic's seizure of the Holy Grail left the war unresolved. Risei Kotomine later adopted him; Amakusa took the name Shirou Kotomine and avoided his adoptive brother Kirei, whose nature he had seen through 231 273.

In a later Holy Grail War, Shirou presents himself as its supervisor. He proposes that Kairi Shishigou and Mordred join forces with him and asks them to reveal Mordred's True Name, but they decline 230. He subsequently joins the Red Faction's preparations for battle 268.
