New York had been drenched in rain all day, and the downpour had yet to stop.
That night, the Adjudicator stepped out of a taxi and arrived at Heike Sushi Restaurant.
The sushi restaurant's owner and head chef, Zero, saw a customer enter and immediately said, "Welcome."
"What can I get for you?"
The Adjudicator sat down and took out a Gold Coin representing her identity as the Adjudicator, placing it before the owner.
Seeing the Gold Coin representing the Adjudicator's identity, Zero said to the woman before him, "I didn't expect the High Table to come so soon."
The Adjudicator stared at Zero and said, "There is an assignment involving someone who broke the Rules and opposed the High Table."
Zero paused his work, looked up, and said, "You mean John Wick."
"My students haven't been idle."
Hearing Zero's reply, the Adjudicator continued, "John Wick, and everyone who helped him."
"Of course, you've heard his story."
"In the past week alone, John has killed countless people."
Zero said, "All because of a dog and a car."
"I know. I'm interested too."
"Very interested."
Zero picked up a piece of fugu and said, "Fugu. Its poison is lethal."
He then placed the fugu before the Adjudicator and said, "No soy sauce."
Without changing expression, the Adjudicator picked up the fugu and put it into her mouth.
Watching her eat the fugu, Zero solemnly said, "I have always served the High Table, and I will continue to serve it unto death."
He then bowed together with his two students behind him.
Having received Zero's affirmative answer, the Adjudicator collected the Gold Coin from the table and left Heike Sushi Restaurant with Zero and his students.
Charlotte Agency.
At that moment, Charlotte Doyle sat in the lobby drinking White Horse Whiskey. He had received word that the High Table's Adjudicator had appeared in New York and would presumably come looking for him soon.
Since he intended to show the High Table some muscle, Charlotte Doyle planned to crush the Adjudicator's arrogance before heading to Casablanca.
The timing worked out perfectly as well.
As Charlotte Doyle pondered this, the Agency's front door was pushed open.
The Adjudicator, dressed in black, walked in with three Assassins behind her: Zero and his two students.
Seeing them, Charlotte Doyle smiled and said, "The High Table's Adjudicator is certainly quick."
The Adjudicator walked over and sat on the sofa opposite Charlotte. Looking at the man before her, she said, "Charlotte Doyle, you joined The Continental as a child and swore to serve the High Table unto death."
"Yet you helped John Wick and arranged for his departure from New York."
"Where is your loyalty?"
With a scornful expression, Charlotte looked at the woman before him and slowly said, "I believe I have both the strength and the qualifications to decide my own actions."
The Adjudicator gave Charlotte Doyle a deep look, trying to see through his ambitions, before saying coldly, "You may be New York's number one assassin and have even earned the title of Legendary Assassin, but that does not mean you stand above the High Table."
"You will atone with blood!"
"Now, extend that helpful hand of yours and swear your loyalty."
Seeing the Adjudicator try this on him, Charlotte Doyle's expression changed as his aura erupted completely.
Killing Intent spread out, focused especially on the Adjudicator before him.
The next second.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Three figures suddenly appeared beside Charlotte Doyle: Umino Iruka, Sasuke Uchiha, and Rock Lee.
The instant they appeared, the three surrounded Zero and his two students.
Under Charlotte's aura, the Adjudicator's face instantly turned pale. It was as if she had seen a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, and her body stiffened under the raging Killing Intent.
As an assassin, Zero also felt a chill rise from the soles of his feet under the pressure of that Killing Intent.
Th-this is the strength of Charlotte Doyle, who surpassed even a Legendary Assassin?
His Killing Intent alone is this terrifying.
Looking at the Adjudicator, whose lips trembled and face had gone pale, Charlotte said scornfully, "You do not have the strength to judge me. Not only are you incapable of it, but the three fools you brought are incapable as well."
"Throw these three eyesores out for me."
Hearing Charlotte's order, Iruka and the other two immediately grabbed Zero and his students and threw them out onto the street. Throughout it all, none of the three resisted, nor did they dare fight back.
Zero knew that if he did not resist, he could still live, losing only some face. If he fought back, he would likely die instantly.
Looking at the Adjudicator, who could neither speak nor move, Charlotte Doyle withdrew his aura and slowly said, "You cannot even move under my Killing Intent. How do you intend to judge me?"
As the Killing Intent and aura dissipated, color slowly returned to the Adjudicator's face, as though blood that had frozen moments ago began flowing again.
She immediately began gasping for air. The feeling just now had been too terrifying, and her eyes were filled with fear as she looked at Charlotte Doyle.
Just now, she had felt that she was about to die, as though the Death God had seized her by the throat and could reap her life at any moment.
After catching her breath, the Adjudicator quickly calmed down and said, "I admit that Mr. Charlotte possesses sufficient strength."
"But the High Table stands above all Rules. Everyone beneath the High Table must abide by its regulations."
"John Wick has already been expelled from The Continental and publicly placed under a Bounty Order."
"No person or organization under the High Table's rule may help John Wick. Otherwise, they will be opposing the High Table."
Watching the Adjudicator force herself to remain calm, Charlotte smiled. "Expelled? Then register him again."
"The bounty can be canceled. As long as the Elder speaks, none of this is a problem."
Hearing Charlotte Doyle mention the Elder, the Adjudicator assumed he intended to take the matter through higher channels. She then stood and said, "Mr. Charlotte, you must understand that nothing will change until a new order is issued."
"The High Table's will must be carried out. I am merely the one who enforces that will, and the High Table's power is far more than this..."
Charlotte said nothing and merely made a gesture of invitation.
The Adjudicator gave Charlotte Doyle a deep look before turning and leaving the Agency.
What she did not know was that Charlotte did not intend to take the upper route and have the Elder pardon John Wick. He intended to become the Elder, one of the High Table's Thirteen Seats.
To become one of the High Table's rulers!
