Maya Hansen's Plan

On the rooftop helipad of Killian's base.

At that moment, Savin returned aboard a transport plane, bringing several Extremis soldiers with him as they transported the War Machine Armor back.

Killian waited on the rooftop helipad to receive Savin. He watched him step down from the plane, several soldiers behind him carrying the War Machine Armor.

Killian walked forward, spread his arms, embraced Savin, and said, "Good. Our plan has taken another step forward."

"A beautiful tomorrow awaits us."

Then he said to the soldiers behind him, "Take the armor to the basement and dismantle it."

"Yes, sir!"

Killian and Savin quickly returned inside the castle. Just then, a fully armed soldier walked in.

"Sir, the mission failed."

"Gary, what exactly happened?"

Gary answered, "The squad sent to Charlotte Doyle's base lost all contact not long after entering the base. The mission to rescue Maya Hansen should have failed."

Bang!

Killian slammed a fist into the wall, leaving a fist-shaped crater in it.

"Useless fools. More trouble than they're worth."

He was not cursing the Extremis squad. He was cursing Maya Hansen.

Savin looked at Killian and said, "Sir, how should we handle this now?"

Killian looked at Gary and continued asking, "Was there an explosion at their base?"

Gary shook his head. "According to our intel, there was no explosion there, and the battle ended very quickly."

"Bastards."

After cursing, Killian said, "Remove Maya Hansen from management. Suspend the rescue plan for her for now."

Clearly, he understood that his limited forces could not be thrown into that bottomless black hole. He had more important matters to attend to.

Gary lowered his head. "Yes, sir!"

Then Killian continued giving orders. "Gather our people."

"How many?"

Killian said gravely, "All of them. As many as we have."
