Hope returned home, intending to have a proper talk with Hank Pym, only to find that there was no one in the house.
That would have been one thing, but even the safe in the basement had been violently pried open.
Faced with this, there was no way Hope could tolerate it.
Regardless of whether this had anything to do with her father's plan, she called the police directly.
On the other side, after being badly shaken, Scott thought it over for a whole day and decided to return the suit under cover of night.
Night fell.
Scott had no idea that Hope had already called the police, and that he was delivering himself straight to their doorstep.
Scott packed the suit into a backpack, then headed for Hank Pym's house. After a smooth series of practiced moves, he flipped inside, put the suit back, and immediately turned to leave.
However, the instant he vaulted over the courtyard wall, the police, who had long since been lying in ambush, were already there. Their headlights shone on Scott, and they raised their guns at him, shouting:
"Get down."
"You're under arrest."
Scott immediately raised both hands and shouted:
"No, I didn't steal anything!"
"I was just returning something I stole before."
The moment the words left his mouth, Scott realized he had said the wrong thing. He shut his eyes in frustration, then slowly knelt on the ground.
Two armed officers came over. One of them immediately cuffed Scott and took him back to the police station.
"You almost had me believing you were going to turn over a new leaf."
In a sports car by the roadside, Hope watched Scott being taken away by the police from start to finish and murmured:
"Hank, is this the person you chose?"
