V3.20 finishes retranslating every old-model chapter, redoes genres and reclassifies every novel, replaces the achievement catalogue, and adds Library Management, a free AI voice for read aloud, and full keyboard use of the site. It also brings a fix pass across the whole site: safer translations and renames, better wiki images, steadier reading, and hundreds of smaller fixes.

Higher limits on every paid tier#

  • AI Cloud voices for read aloud are now on the $5 tier and up. They used to need the $12 tier.
  • Glossary suggestions now need the $5 tier or higher: editing a term, adding one, a bulk rename, and including or excluding general terms for a novel. Reading every glossary stays free, and so does setting your own personal translation of a term.
  • Novel requests: 50 a month on the $12 tier (was 32) and 150 on the $25 tier (was 96). A request is still counted by the novel's size: a novel under 200 chapters counts as half a request, one with 200 to 2,000 chapters as 1, and a longer one as 1 plus 1 more for every 2,000 chapters (a 4,500-chapter novel counts as 3).
  • Previews: 50 a month on the $12 tier (was 32) and 150 on the $25 tier (was 96).
  • Name searches: 250 a month on the $12 tier (was 160) and 750 on the $25 tier (was 480).
  • Chapter retranslates and rescrapes: 50 a day on the $5 tier (was 10), 100 on the $12 tier (was 30) and 300 on the $25 tier (was 75).
  • Paragraph and title retranslates: 500 a day on the $5 tier (was 100), 1,000 on the $12 tier (was 300) and 3,000 on the $25 tier (was 750).
  • Wiki generations: 150 a month on the $25 tier (was 60), the same number as its novel requests.
  • Your own numbers and what you have left are on the Limits page.

Translations and wikis#

  • Every old-model chapter has been retranslated. Chapters translated with Gemini 3.1, DeepSeek V4 Flash, Gemini 2.5 or other older models are all done.
  • Translations run on GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, with Gemini 3.5 Flash Lite for chapters translated live as you read. Chapters flagged as badly translated are being redone on GPT-6.1 Sol.
  • A retranslation can't make a chapter worse. One that comes back refused, cut off or with its paragraphs lost is thrown away: the chapter keeps its text, you see Not changed, and your allowance isn't used.
  • A chapter someone else is already translating shows Being translated and opens when it's ready, instead of starting a second translation.
  • Chapters an AI model refused to translate are now readable in an edited version, with a note at the top saying what was removed.
  • Canon characters in fan-fiction get their own wikis. A canon character among a fanfic's most-mentioned characters, often the main character, now gets a wiki written from that novel's own story.
  • Wikis are written only when the story actually names the character, and take their facts from the Chinese name in the text. A wiki's likes count for that novel's page.
  • Wiki images are being redrawn with gpt-image-2.5, which handles fan-fiction characters much better. A redrawn wiki moves to the top of Recently updated.
  • New image rules: each picture is a scene from the story with the character as its focus, outfits fit the scene, the two images are two different moments, and characters in the same novel look like different people. A character the image model refuses to draw gets an original design instead of no picture.

New genres#

  • New genres for web-novel readers, with every novel reclassified: Fantasy, Anime & Manga, Military & War, Mystery & Horror, Historical Romance, Modern Romance, Fantasy Romance, Danmei (Boys' Love) and Yuri (Girls' Love), alongside Xianxia, Xuanhuan, Wuxia, Urban, Historical, Sci-Fi, Game and Slice of Life.
  • Fan-Fiction is no longer a genre. A fanfic takes the genre of its story and keeps its fandom. The Browse fanfic filter and fandom glossaries work as before.
  • Genre tags on a novel's page are now Subgenres.

Library Management#

  • New, and off unless you turn it on in your library's Settings: your library follows your reading. A novel is added as Reading at the chapter you pick, Plan to Read moves to Reading, finishing a completed novel marks it Completed, reading a paused novel resumes it, and an optional pause moves novels you stopped reading to Paused.
  • Each part has its own switch, all off to start, with a ? that explains it. Turning a part on applies it to everything you've already read, and novels it added can be removed in one go. See Library and Progress.

Achievements#

  • 65 achievements in twelve families, most of them ladders up to Legendary or Mythic. The tiers mean something now: Common is held by 30–50% of active readers, Rare by about 5%, Legendary by one or two. See Levels and Achievements.
  • New families reward reading past chapter 1,000, catching up on long novels, rating, being first to read a novel, reading wikis, and adding novels others get into. Some achievements stay secret until you earn them.
  • A one-time reset: every reader was re-evaluated under the new rules and the old achievements were removed. It won't happen again; awards you earn from now on stay.
  • Titles are coloured by tier, and you wear your rarest one unless you pick another. The profile Awards section was redesigned, with progress bars on your own locked awards.
  • "Held by N% of active readers" now counts readers active in the last 30 days.

Read aloud#

  • AI Device, a new free voice: the AI Cloud voices running on your own computer after a one-time download of about 350 MB, in the offline reader too. Needs Chrome or Edge on a computer. See Read Aloud.
  • The engines are now Browser and AI Device (free) and AI Cloud ($12 tier and up).
  • A new Paragraph pause setting, no more dead air between sentences, and a paragraph that fails is retried, then skipped.
  • Read from here works without signing in, and auto-advance continues after an End-of-chapter sleep timer.

Keyboard and accessibility#

  • Arrow keys turn pages (← →) and move through lists (↓ ↑, Enter opens) on Browse, Popular, Wikis, the glossaries, Library, profiles, summaries, chapter lists and Notifications.
  • / jumps to search, ? lists every shortcut, and Tab offers Skip to main content.
  • New in Display Settings → Site: Text Size, Underline Links and Reduce Motion, which also follows your device.
  • Screen readers name every icon button and announce page changes, and focus outlines are clearer.
  • Glossary names in a chapter open from the keyboard, small text meets WCAG AA contrast in every theme, and buttons on phones are at least 44px tall.

Notifications#

  • Nine categories, each with its own switch: Chapter updates, New for you, Saved-search alerts, Your requests, Contributions, Social, Levels and awards, Site updates and Other. The notifications page filters by category. See Notifications.
  • The unread badge comes from the server and leaves out categories you've switched off.
  • Requesting a novel that's already on the site links you to it and refunds the request, and failed requests say why.

Reading and chapter summaries#

  • Chapter summaries are denser, with short previews, Show more, Read chapter, an Expand all that stays on across pages, and Reading ch. N to jump to your place.
  • Sentences a source splits across lines read as one paragraph, and a chapter heading mid-page reads as a chapter break.
  • Back and Forward return you to where you were, and offline downloads include the 10 chapters before yours.
  • Shortcuts and pull-to-next no longer fire inside dialogs, and R asks before retranslating.
  • Your reading progress never moves backwards because of an old tab or a second device.
  • A translation stream that fails or is cut off keeps the text you already have and recovers the chapter.
  • Letters, verse and italic thoughts are no longer merged into the next paragraph.
  • Read aloud lists the server's AI Cloud voices and stops after three failed clips in a row instead of skipping the chapter.

Library and novel pages#

  • Continue Reading has a Last: Read | Updated | Added switch, shared with the library's sort.
  • The library on phones is more compact, with a progress bar.
  • Tags are links, and pages that fail to load offer Try again.
  • A new novel status, Discontinued, for a story its author has stopped for good. A status set by a moderator is no longer overwritten automatically. See Novel status.
  • Novel cards no longer show a chapter count (the word count already does that job), and an unknown author is left out instead of printed as "Unknown Author".
  • The request page shows a source search's progress as it runs, and long search lines fit on a phone screen.

Community and accounts#

  • Clearly abusive posts (hate, threats, explicit sexual content, encouraging self-harm) are stopped with a reason; swearing and harsh reviews are fine. See Posts that aren't accepted.
  • Type @Mod to reach the moderator, who now carries a Moderator tag. Usernames with slurs, or posing as staff, can't be chosen. See Mentions.
  • Sign out everywhere on your profile ends every session on every device.
  • A novel removed at its licensed publisher's request tells its readers where they were and links the official translation where there is one, and can't be requested again.
  • Notification links land on the comment or review they're about, and a refused post or a used-up limit says why and, for a daily limit, when it resets.
  • Signing out deletes offline downloads only once the server confirms it, and a session that ends while a page is open says so once.

Glossary#

  • The general glossary filters by fandom.
  • Suggest translation and Find original give up after about 25 seconds with a clear "try again".
  • Character portraits each take their pose from a moment in the story.
  • Renames show what they'll change before a moderator applies them, and report what they did. A rename changes only the term it's for, never another term with the same English name, and Bulk Rename runs as a job you can follow.
  • Editing a shared (general) term changes it for the novel you're reading only. That novel gets its own copy of the term, with its chapter links, likes and references; other novels keep the shared one.
  • One name matcher for chapters, personal translations and wiki links, so a name highlights the same way everywhere. Names keep their hyphens and apostrophes, and a name hidden from a chapter onward stays hidden there.

Sources#

  • New: qimao.com (七猫免费小说) and oop.tw (短篇小說), which often carries authors' rewritten chapters that other sites still show in their old version.
  • More forms of pasted Fanqie links work, and 69shuba.tw and shuhaige.net fetch reliably again.
  • Sources that split chapters into pages give real chapter titles, and reordered source chapters are relinked in the source's order.
  • A public status page at status.randomtranslator.com shows whether translation, new chapters and the site are working, with 90 days of history.
  • Scraping refuses placeholder, rate-limit and garbled pages instead of saving them as chapters, and no longer trims real lines from chapter text. Chapters that had saved a site's lock page were fetched again.

Reliability#

  • A deploy no longer cuts off work in progress, and every update is tested automatically before it goes live.
  • Safer sign-in and session handling, tighter limits on what a request can send, and error messages that never expose internals.
  • A page whose data fails to load says so and offers Try again, instead of showing an empty page.
