Darren Cross looked at Hank Pym, a smile appearing on his face, and said:
"I have some good news."
Hank Pym asked in confusion:
"Really?"
"What news?"
Darren Cross said:
"Pym Technologies."
"The company you founded is about to become one of the most profitable organizations in the world."
"We expect to make fifteen billion dollars by tomorrow morning."
"No need to thank me."
Darren Cross walked up to Hank Pym and rested one hand on his shoulder.
"I know this is strange, but I hope you can be there."
"This is my moment, and I want you to witness it with your own eyes."
After thinking for a moment, Hank Pym said:
"All right, of course."
"I'll be there."
As he spoke, Hank Pym put some distance between himself and Darren Cross.
Darren Cross looked at the photo of Hank Pym's wife sitting on the table, then walked over and looked at Hank Pym.
"What was it you saw in me?"
Hank Pym looked at Darren Cross.
"I don't understand what you mean."
Darren Cross said:
"Back then, when you chose me, what was it you saw in me?"
After thinking for a moment, Hank Pym said:
"I saw myself."
Darren Cross said in a low voice:
"Then why did you drive me away?"
Hank Pym gave his explanation:
"Because I saw too much of myself in you."
Darren Cross glanced at Hank Pym. At that moment, his eyes were wet, as if tears were gathering in them.
Then he opened the villa door and walked straight out.
Watching Darren Cross leave, Hank Pym returned to the Monitoring Room.
Hope spoke then:
"He knows. He's setting you up."
"We have to abort the operation and revise the plan."
Hank Pym said:
"Everything carries risk. Besides, we still have Pakura."
