Writing fanfiction can be quite a headache. The timeline for Hokage is already a mess with several versions, and trying to string them all together is chaotic, which is why different fanfics can be quite varied.

This leads to some people, after reading a lot, treating one book's timeline as the correct one. Then, when they see a new fanfic, they immediately start arguing without a second thought.

Of course, none of this is the main point. I'm not trying to say this; I'm just explaining...

When Obito graduated from the Ninja Academy, Itachi was probably just born—around two years old.

Obito faked his death during the Third Shinobi World War, and at the same time, Itachi, during the Third Shinobi World War (at four years old), followed Fugaku onto the battlefield. It was then that he wanted to protect peace. So, Itachi was born during the Third Shinobi World War, participated in it, Obito participated in it, and faked his death during it.
