Background / History

The Qingyang Town Lin Family was founded only a few decades before Lin Yan’s rebirth. Lin Zhentian had been exiled from the Lin Clan Inner Clan after failing a mission; he brought implicated clansmen to the remote town and established the branch there. Though regarded as outsiders beside the centuries-established Lei and Xie Families, the Lin Family became a major Qingyang Town power through Lin Zhentian’s strength and leadership. 1

Before its rise, the family’s authority was largely held by the eldest and second branches. Lin Xiao’s crippling injury and Lin Zhentian’s gradual withdrawal from family affairs had weakened the third branch’s position, while Lin Mang viewed Lin Xiao’s recovery as a threat to his own influence. 19

The Clan Competition changed the family’s internal standing. Lin Yan and Lin Dong defeated the previously favored younger generation, and Lin Zhentian publicly named them the Lin Family Double Heroes—symbols of the family’s future. 27 Their emergence raised the younger generation’s morale and gave the Lin Family greater confidence in conflicts with the Lei and Xie Families. 41

Following the Hunting Tournament, the Lin Family gained two Fire Python Tiger cubs, won Ironwood Manor, and uncovered a Yang Origin Stone Vein. These resources accelerated its expansion but also intensified the Lei Family’s attempts to suppress it. 55 61 67

After Lin Yan and Lin Dong helped repel the Black Dragon Stronghold and defeat the Lei Family’s forces, Mad Blade Martial Hall recognized the Lin Family as Qingyang Town’s first family. Nevertheless, Lin Yan considered the family’s lack of long-standing connections and foundation a continuing weakness. 71 72

The family subsequently moved its focus to Flame City. Its alliance with the Iron Mountain Gang enabled it to survive the Blood Cloth Sect’s assault, destroy the sect, and inherit part of its territory. 103 110 112 After later defeating the Blood Wolf Gang and merging with the Iron Mountain Gang, the Lin Family became one of Flame City’s three openly recognized major forces. 125 126

Even after Lin Yan was expelled from the Lin Clan Main Family’s register, Lin Zhentian and the Flame City branch openly reaffirmed him as part of their family and declared the estate his home. 153 157

• Lin Clan Main Family — The Qingyang Town and Flame City Lin Family originated as an exiled branch. Main-family visitors initially disparaged the branch, but its growing strength forced the Inner Clan to treat it with greater care. 1 132 135
