After passing through several streets, the bustling scene of Sainia once again came into Herman's view.
His experience in the café kept replaying in his mind, giving him the feeling of being in a dream. Yet his perception of magic power and the lighter cane reminded him that it had all been real.
He could not understand why that young owner had opened a shop in such a remote corner of Sainia, nor why the drink called coffee had such outrageously powerful effects.
Even as a detective, he felt that the café was shrouded in a dense fog, allowing him to make out only the faintest outlines.
"A strange shop, a strange owner..." Herman muttered under his breath. "The coffee tasted pretty good, though it would have been even better if it weren't so sweet."
His luck was not bad. He happened to catch an arriving magic train, bought a ticket, and set off back toward the Dream Weaving Firm.
"Jodice, I'm back." As soon as Herman entered the Dream Weaving Firm, he spotted Jodice behind the counter, flipping through a book.
"It hasn't been long since you left, and the Dream Weaving Firm will not close for a while yet. This isn't your usual style." Jodice looked up at Herman.
"If nothing comes up, I usually return to the Dream Weaving Firm early every day." Herman sat down and placed his cane beside him. "But you know how it is. A detective has to run all over the place. It's all for work."
"I hope so." Jodice's expression did not change. Only then did she report the business situation of the Dream Weaving Firm to her nominal boss. "No customers came by after you left."
