"Wait a little longer." The City Guard captain took out his Magic Phone and glanced at it twice. "It's still early."
Jiuyao City's gate stood bleak and deserted. As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but white snow, not a single pedestrian in sight.
Calling it Jiuyao City's gate was somewhat inaccurate. It was really just the most conspicuous entrance.
As the capital of the Tianxing Empire, Jiuyao City bordered the Jiuyao Mountain Range. Its expanse was immeasurable, a fantastical metropolis in every sense.
A city this vast naturally could not be completely enclosed by walls.
Walls had only been built in certain areas, their practical purpose far outweighed by their symbolic one.
Even so, the city gates remained the main route for Jiuyao City's residents and visitors alike.
As for those extraordinary beings who could fly, they were naturally not subject to such restrictions.
"So cold. Even holding my Magic Phone freezes my hands." A City Guard rubbed his hands together, the corner of his eye catching something. "Hey, is someone coming over there?"
"Where? The snow's falling too heavily. I can't see anything at all." The City Guard captain looked around, but all he saw was snow.
"Up there." The City Guard pointed at the sky.
Xie Mengwu looked down. Jiuyao City's gate stood below, and not far away was the central Teleportation Array, still immensely magnificent even from the air.
A transparent spiritual-energy barrier surrounded her, blocking all wind and snow while also keeping her warm.
After giving it some thought, she decided to go down.
Though powerful people enjoyed privileges wherever they went, and she, a Venerable, would be treated with courtesy even by peak factions, this was Jiuyao City.
