Gray and white were the eternal, unchanging tones of the Shadow Realm. Occasionally, enormous shadows drifted slowly across the sky, like giant whales swimming overhead above a seabed beach, blocking out the sunlight.

Endless gray-white dust and sand shrouded heaven and earth alike. The rolling dunes in the distance became faint silhouettes and isolated islands amid the dust, carrying an unreal, hazy illusion.

Somewhere in this boundless desert stood a rather conspicuous house with a blue roof and white walls. Not far away was an enormous pale-blue light curtain, around which gathered many Shadow Dwellers of varying forms.

Occasionally, sleep talking-like murmurs arose, only to drift away with the wind moments later.

When the demon beast finished speaking, 1579 did not continue. A hint of reminiscence surfaced on that exquisite, somewhat illusory face formed from black mist and shadows.

After a long while, a soft sigh broke the inexplicably silent atmosphere.

"It has been so long already," 1579 said quietly.

"For Shadow Dwellers like you, who have changed your very form, life has long since become inexhaustible. What is there to lament here?"

As 1579 spoke, she seemed to realize something and did not finish her sentence. The expression on her face did not change much, either.

Both sides understood what she meant.

Nothing was eternal and indestructible. That was true for mortals, and gods were no exception.
