Blackscale looked at the sword light that surged to the heavens. The frenzied thoughts filling his mind because of the god's whispers had finally cleared somewhat, and regret had already begun to stir in his heart.
He had never imagined that this human's strength would be so terrifying.
It seemed that without sufficient cultivation, one simply could not cross that perilous dense forest—and certainly could not wait leisurely for his arrival as though sightseeing. Only now did Blackscale realize that his opponent had seemingly anticipated that he would pass through here.

Blackscale cursed furiously. Beyond his anger, a faint fear had emerged in his heart. He recalled the scene of encountering the Demon Emperor: with a single move, she had destroyed his body. Were it not for the formidable power granted by the god, he would not have possessed even the slightest ability to resist.
Yet the white-robed woman before him gave Blackscale the same feeling as facing the Demon Emperor. She was immensely, immensely powerful, utterly beyond his ability to contend with. But he had no time to think further. Boundless sword light made even starlight and moonlight pale by comparison, and beneath that ultimate dreamlike splendor lurked deadly danger.
The enormous thing formed from Black Mist roared. Several white clouds in the night sky were torn completely apart, while the Black Mist, vast as an ocean, churned and boiled as it crashed toward the sea of sword light like a tidal wave.
Half the heavens were black as ink, while the other half shone white as snow.
Heaven and earth fell utterly silent for a moment. Time itself seemed to have frozen at that instant, leaving only the black and white oceans surging without end, each seeking to devour and destroy the other.
