Su Nan looked at the little booklet every passenger had. The transportation network already connected nearly half the cities; at the current pace of construction, linking the entire empire was merely a matter of time.

But in Su Nan's view, the latter was not very likely.
This world seemed to have some peculiar limitation. The Sea of Stars was merely a sea of stars, hanging high in the heavens, dazzling and magnificent, seemingly within reach, yet separated by who knew how many light-years.
Sometimes, Su Nan wondered whether something akin to "shackles of the mind" was stopping the creatures of this world from exploring the starry sky. Or, more absurdly, perhaps the stars in the night sky were actually something like pasted textures, and only by getting close could one see the truth.
Su Nan had tried it herself, leaving the atmosphere and traveling into space.
The facts proved that the second guess was wrong. The stars above were not textures, but real stars. The sun was enormous, enormously so; its light was blinding, there was no air, and staying in such an environment was very uncomfortable. Tianlan Continent remained just as boundless—though she had reached outer space, she still could not see its edges.
So Su Nan gave up on searching for the truth.
She had simply lived too long. For no reason at all, she felt bored, suddenly wanted to find something to do, and once the interest had worn away, she returned to her original state.
