"It was me who killed Shiori."
"Shiori, who should have died twenty-three days ago, died in my arms just now."
"Pleased to meet you, Light Yagami. I am 'L.'"
"Please lend us your mind and help us capture Kira."
As L, played by Yao Ziyan, appeared on the projection screen, the entire film drew to a close. The camera angle gradually rose, taking in the city glittering with countless lights. Then, a grimacing Shinigami descended from the sky, opened its mouth wide, and swallowed the image whole. The screen fell into darkness.
The movie had come to an end.
The previously quiet screening hall immediately became lively. Some customers discussed the plot, while others quietly departed.
Su Nan and Yao Ziyan sat slightly farther back, in no hurry to leave.
"How did it feel?" Yao Ziyan looked at Su Nan.
"The movie itself, or the characters in it?" Su Nan tossed a piece of popcorn into her mouth.
"Both." Yao Ziyan gently swung her legs, looking relaxed and at ease. "I want to hear what you think."
"A very good story." Su Nan seriously recalled the events of the film. "Perhaps the boss made this movie to explore whether personal power or the law better accords with reality, what justice is, and what truth is. Those questions are destined to have no answer. To me, that is the meaning of the movie."
"Absolute justice has never existed," Yao Ziyan said.
"Mm." Su Nan nodded. "And Yue's character... At first, I thought she was just a little girl who accidentally obtained a Shinigami notebook. She suddenly gained the power of a god and gradually became swollen with arrogance. Later, I felt that Yue had always been a cold and ruthless person, acting out the image others believed her to be.
