At this very moment, Anno felt that the worldview she had cultivated over the years had suffered a severe impact.
Could liches even eat?
That question kept circling through her mind.
"Elizabeth, did you find a way for the undead to eat?" Great Axe came over to fetch a barrel of ale and happened to overhear Elizabeth's words. He asked in considerable surprise.
Elizabeth laughed. Though her laugh was still grating, there was little mockery in it.
"That was true before, but things are different now."
Anno blinked, not quite understanding what Elizabeth meant at first—until the latter held a bottle of fruit wine in her hand.
"This is the answer."
Fingers wrapped in bandages twisted off the cap before bringing the bottle to her mouth.
The veil formed from shadow energy quietly dispersed, revealing the face behind it.
Pale bones. Within eye sockets like black holes, two ghostly blue Soul Fires flickered softly.
Anno's eyes widened. This was the first time she had seen Elizabeth's true appearance.
How should she put it?
It was not particularly frightening. She simply found it very curious.
Great Axe watched Elizabeth pour nearly half the bottle of fruit wine into her mouth in one gulp, his voice full of astonishment and suspicion. "How didn't it leak out?"
As a lich, Elizabeth's body had long since rotted away, becoming its current skeletal form. Put simply, whatever went in would leak right back out.
Elizabeth merely let out an odd laugh.
The sweet fragrance of fruit made it seem as though she were standing in an orchard during the autumn harvest, bathed in warm golden sunlight... The feeling was simply marvelous.
