Elina stopped in her tracks, looking at the potted plant placed on the windowsill at the stairwell landing, and murmured softly to herself.
It was a very ordinary potted plant, and what it contained was no rare or precious species. A tiny sprout bore a small pinkish-white flower, swaying gently in the chilly night wind.
