The Federation Governor snapped back to his senses, shuddering as fear gripped him.
Such a commotion could only mean that troops were exchanging fire.
Yet aside from Imperium troops and personnel, this planet was home only to Federation citizens. No matter what kind of conflict or slaughter had occurred, it was hardly a good thing.
His first thought was that someone had enraged the Imperium so badly that its forces had begun a wholesale massacre.
"How did it come to this—" The Federation Governor's hands trembled so badly that he could barely hold his communicator.
Given the Federation's stereotypes about the Imperium, he had no doubt it was capable of such a thing. They did not even blink when firing Exterminatus Torpedoes at planets under their own rule.
But using that much firepower to bombard Federation citizens was simply too brutal. It was tyranny, plain and simple!
The Federation Governor had originally thought the Imperium had changed, but the sudden roar of artillery and ruthless purge left him fearful and uncertain.
The Imperium seemed to be just as it had always been: cold-blooded, brutal, and willing to use any means necessary to enforce its will, even if it left rivers of blood in its wake!
"In—Inquisitor, what exactly happened?"
Trembling, the Federation Governor finally activated his communicator and contacted the Imperium.
He swallowed, barely able to speak as he struggled to restrain the fear in his heart.
The Federation Governor wanted to understand the situation, then persuade the Imperium to stop slaughtering Federation citizens. Even if it placed him at risk of being judged, he would not hesitate!
"Governor, there is no need for concern. Our forces are not harming ordinary citizens."
