The void.
The vast Tendril Swarm also spotted the Imperial Fleet on full alert and recognized the threat.
They picked up speed and headed toward it, like a living chitinous tsunami amid the stars.
"These things are pretty smart, much smarter than the scouting swarms in the Galaxy—"
Ron watched the swarms' movements with a frown.
The Tendril Swarms ignored the TCS Mechanical Towers floating ahead of them. Group after group steered around them, then charged toward weak points in the Imperial Fleet's defensive line.
The swarm will had no intention of clashing head-on with the Imperium. It hoped to break swiftly through the weak points and feast on the Federation planets behind them.
It was a very clever strategy.
They could preserve as much of their strength as possible while using the biomass on tens of thousands of Federation planets to rapidly expand their forces.
That made things more troublesome for the Imperium. There was no Space Steel Wall here to forcibly intercept the swarms. Once
a weak point was breached, the Imperial Fleet would have to split its forces to protect individual Federation planets, running itself ragged.
In a space war like this, simply holding the line was far harder than crushing the enemy, especially with a vulnerable flank. Given the Federation planets' defenses, the swarms' arrival would mean the buffet was open.
Those planets would become incubators for the Tendril Swarms, spawning an endless stream of bugs. Things would become extremely troublesome.
Fortunately, Fleet Commander Voladi also recognized the severity of the problem. He swiftly adjusted the formation, balancing defensive strength along the entire line to prevent the swarms from exploiting an opening.
If the TCS System fails, the Imperium will have to pay a much higher price to stop these Tendril Swarms.
Ron gazed at the
