The moment Ron finished speaking, the atmosphere in the hall turned cold.
The Sons of Humanity stopped cooking. One by one, the burly men turned toward Kryfis and the other Federation personnel, their gazes less than friendly.
These people were afraid to eat bugs? Were they even Imperium citizens?
Datong's stare was especially severe.
To them, the Federation personnel were disrespecting the Savior and the food they had prepared with such care.
It was an insult, and they demanded an explanation.
The sudden change left Kryfis stunned. The other Federation commanders were no better; sweat poured down their backs.
They felt as though predators had fixed their sights on them. Those stares were more frightening than a Tyranid Swarm Assassin's and sent chills through them.
The hall seemed to grow colder still. Kryfis and the others began to tremble.
The atmosphere was terrifying.
It felt as though, if the Savior smashed his wineglass, these towering men would pounce and slice them to pieces, just as they had the hideous space bugs.
They had no doubt these fearsome cooks could slaughter every Federation member in the hall with ease.
How frightening was that?
"You still haven't answered my question," Ron said. He wanted to confirm what the Human Federation commanders thought and whether they possessed a certain quality.
If they refused, he would be disappointed.
"Y-Your Majesty, of course we dare eat these wretched space bugs! We're not weaklings!"
Realizing what was at stake, Kryfis gritted his teeth and took a bite of bug meat, chewing it vigorously with a mouthful of red wine.
"That's right! We're not afraid!"
The other Federation commanders followed his lead, taking great bites of the bug meat they had feared.
How could it taste this good?
Kryfis's eyes grew moist. Whether from fright or from
