Ron stood with his hands behind his back.

He knew all too well how important food was to the Imperium. It was also the source of the prosperity before him.

The Imperium had an enormous population, and its demand for food was almost unimaginable. Any shortfall would cause massive upheaval, bringing hunger, death, and rebellion and undermining the government of an entire region.

A famine that engulfed the whole Imperium could even threaten the foundations of his rule as the Savior.

The Old Imperium had already tasted the bitter consequences of food shortages, and he, the Savior, had experienced them firsthand.

Back on Earth Planet, Ron had exhausted every option for even a little food, living on a knife's edge. One misstep could have destroyed what remained of his government, and angry rebels would have hanged him, their Governor.

No matter what happened, the Imperium could never abandon farming.

And it had not. The Imperium had continually invested vast resources in agricultural technology so it could grow food anywhere. Even fleets setting out on campaigns carried seeds and collected whatever food crop seeds they could find.

It had also established a food storage system of almost unimaginable scale. It had even built numerous granaries deep in the Warp, using stasis fields to preserve food over the long term, among other measures.

"Archmagos, I'll leave this to you."

Ron turned and ordered the Archmagos Biologis to get some food crop seeds and run a trial to see whether they could establish a Hive Farm.

Perhaps they could even find new alien food crops in the Hive Gene-vault, further increasing the variety and yield of the Imperium's food supply.
