What Fahra remembered most clearly was the period before the Biomancy Conversion.
That had been sixty million years ago, when the Necrontyr welcomed the most feverish, grandest event in their history—the supremely wise pioneer, Silent King Szarekh, announced that he had obtained the secret of immortality from the great C'tan.
It would allow the short-lived Necrontyr to break free from the fear of death and illness, and usher in eternal life.
That was what the Necrontyr longed for most. The flaws deep in their genes made their lives abnormally brief and left them far more susceptible to terrible tumor-viruses, which no technology could truly cure.

Their fear of death was everywhere.
But now, the Silent King told the Necrontyr that they could not only break free from their fate of short lives and eliminate pain and sickness, they could also possess eternal life, forever enjoying everything they had, as well as this prosperous Galaxy.
It was news straight out of a dream. All the Necrontyr went mad with joy, and they supported the Silent King even more, obeying his every decree.
"Back then, we were so happy. Every day felt like we were floating in the clouds, waiting for the arrival of the Biomancy Conversion."
Fahra's electronic voice murmured, still without much fluctuation. She was trying to recall that happiness.
Only, to the current her, happiness was merely a word. It was something only beings with flesh and souls could experience.
In this female Phaerakh's memories, the entire Necrontyr Imperium was boiling with excitement. Countless celebrations took place every day, and nobles and commoners alike were celebrating the arrival of the Biomancy
