They wore wary expressions. Following the map provided by the Seven Gourds Wanderer, they had found the site of the incident. They were searching within a radius of five hundred million kilometers from that location, but they had yet to find the Seventh Order Essence-Devouring Beast.
Over the years, quite a few Rogue Cultivators had sold the Wang Family news about Demon Beasts. By the time Wang Family cultivators arrived at the destination, the Demon Beast might already have been killed by other cultivators or fled. Such situations were far from uncommon.
The Barren Wilds were simply too vast. There were plenty of Seventh Order Demon Beasts. For all they knew, the Essence-Devouring Beast had been slain by another Seventh Order Demon Beast or by another Body Integration Cultivator. It might also have gone elsewhere.

Quite a few withered yellow bamboo leaves had fallen to the ground, piling up to a thickness of more than a foot.
Duan Tongtian suddenly stopped. He crouched down and found some pale yellow granules among the withered bamboo leaves. After bringing them to his nose and sniffing several times, he crushed them firmly.
"Uncle, what is this?"

"This is the feces of a Spirit-Seeking Marten. It carries a trace of medicinal-herb scent. The Essence-Devouring Beast definitely hasn't been here. Otherwise, it would certainly have noticed the Spirit-Seeking Marten's feces and eaten it."
