Dana reviewed the three Infinity Stones he had acquired and left Aether sealed while waiting to see what Loki would do. In New York, Alexander Pierce offered the Avengers extensive support and protection as they continued searching for Loki.

• Dana kept Aether sealed because its strange substance could escape and cause trouble, and noted that he had obtained the Time, Reality, and Mind Stones.
• Kakashi Squad reported finding Aether in the United Kingdom and described the Las Vegas battle, while Dana said they would have to watch Loki's next move.
• At S.H.I.E.L.D., Maria Hill reported that seawater from Loki's portal had flooded half of Las Vegas, and Tony Stark concluded the portal opened into the deep Atlantic Ocean.
• Alexander Pierce met the superheroes, proposed separating S.H.I.E.L.D. agents from the Avengers, and promised the team resources and protection from outside pressure.
• Pierce said agents would investigate the stolen Yi Metal and suspected Hawkeye sighting, while the Avengers focused on Loki and House.

Loki, Hawkeye Barton, and Doctor Selvig opened an undersea portal to contact Ebony Maw, who took control of the Tesseract and created a much larger gateway. The chapter ended as an immense Chitauri army began pouring through it onto Earth.

• One day earlier, Loki, Hawkeye Barton, and Doctor Selvig traveled in a cramped submarine to an undersea machine connected to the Tesseract.
• Doctor Selvig used the Tesseract to open a small portal into Sanctuary, where Ebony Maw confronted Loki about the missing scepter and the threats on Earth.
• Loki told Ebony Maw that the Cloud-Lightning Federation and possibly Asgard had become involved in Earth's affairs.
• Ebony Maw emerged through the portal, replaced Selvig's primitive setup with advanced alien machinery, and used the Tesseract to create a vast gateway.
• Endless Chitauri poured through the portal from space as Ebony Maw began building up his forces.

Mao detected hundreds of thousands of Chitauri arriving through a portal beneath the ocean, where Ebony Maw organized them into four forces to invade Earth. After a Chitauri Leviathan destroyed an investigating submarine, a nuclear missile struck the sea but barely affected Ebony Maw’s shielded army, which continued toward the continents.

• Mao sensed the Chitauri army growing to more than three hundred thousand beneath the sea and warned the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D.
• Ebony Maw overruled Loki’s smaller plan, split the Chitauri into four invasion forces, and advanced them underwater toward North America, South America, Europe, and Africa.

• Enormous triangular Outrider landing craft rose from the ocean, then crashed down from orbit onto the Pentagon and other critical targets.
• Outriders overwhelmed the Pentagon and destroyed two artillery positions, pushing Dahua City’s defensive line toward collapse.
• The United States government unanimously passed the Cloud-M Security Treaty after the Outrider attack shattered its remaining hope of holding back the invasion.

The Cloud-Lightning Federation sent its ninja armies through the Light Ring into the Marvel World, where Ōnoki destroyed a Chitauri ambush. Their modified Floating Airship Islands arrived in force above the Pacific Ocean, and Ōnoki’s flagship warped away to scout the battlefield.

• Ōnoki emerged from the Light Ring and used Dust Release to destroy the Chitauri squad surrounding it.
• Hanzo of the Salamander, Kagura Tachibana, Minato Namikaze, and the adult Sasori followed Ōnoki into the Marvel World.

The Cloud-Lightning Federation exposed and defeated the Chitauri forces hidden beneath the Atlantic, capturing the Tesseract and trapping Ebony Maw and Loki. Dana prepared to take Ebony Maw’s knowledge, while Loki offered to guide the Federation through the cosmos.

• Ebony Maw and Aizel watched footage of the Federation’s extraordinary soldiers and worried that their forces were losing.
• Loki asked Hawkeye whether their stranded submarine could move, then felt the seabed begin to tremble.
• Dana and the Federation’s ninjas raised a vast section of seabed, exposing the Chitauri reserves and the portal machine.

After Dana secured the Tesseract and closed the portal, the Chitauri continued fighting, so he ordered the Cloud-Lightning Maru back to Dahua City. There, Thor arrived with thousands of Asgardian soldiers and demanded that the Federation leave Earth, while Ōnoki aimed four airship islands’ Chakra Cannons at them.

• Dana captured Loki and Ebony Maw, secured the Tesseract, and closed the portal, but the Chitauri forces remained active.
• Dana ordered the other airship islands to fight the Chitauri and returned the Cloud-Lightning Maru to Dahua City.

As the Chitauri invasion ended across the continents, Wakanda emerged from isolation after fighting off its own Chitauri force, and T'Challa was tasked with meeting the Federation.

• Dana released Thor after Odin agreed that Asgard and Earth would have no further political ties, and the Bifrost transported the Asgardians away.

After the Chitauri invasion, Dana consolidated the Cloud-Lightning Federation’s control on Earth through political agreements, reconstruction efforts, and a planned Sea City. He sent Ebony Maw’s team into space to obtain a Galactic Star Map and Warp Drive technology, then prepared to meet Wakanda’s king.

• Dana fulfilled his promise to the Secret Society by having Jishi perform rejuvenation surgery, then used the postwar reshuffling to secure the United States under Federation control.
• Dana directed the United States and Hydra forces to expand the Cloud-M Security Treaty worldwide, while the Federation began planning a Sea City near the Pacific portal.
• Kitsuchi led the Iwagakure Ninja Army to inspect land reclamation plans, while Federation ninjas helped with rescue and rebuilding and gained superhero nicknames among Earthlings.

Thor learned that Asgard would accept Midgard’s separation and was forbidden from clashing with the Cloud-Lightning Federation while Odin investigated its origins. Meanwhile, Orochimaru became Kamar-Taj’s Acting Sorcerer Supreme, gained powerful magical artifacts and enough magic to begin manipulating the Federation’s dimensional gate.

• Odin freed Thor from confinement, explained that Thor’s aggressive attempt to claim Midgard had been a mistake, and said Asgard would announce Midgard’s separation from its rule.
• Odin warned Thor not to clash with the Cloud-Lightning Federation again until he learned more about its strange origins and the disappearance of an old friend on Earth.
• Kamar-Taj’s sorcerers appointed Orochimaru Acting Sorcerer Supreme and gave him the Wand of Watoomb and the Book of the Vishanti in place of the missing Eye of Agamotto.
• Orochimaru entered Ancient One’s hidden treasure vault, then emerged with the Box of the Vishanti and offered to alter the dimensional gate over the Pacific Ocean.
• Orochimaru told Dana that he had gained magical strength by signing contracts with a demon god and exchanging for eight contracts until the god went bankrupt.

Dana planned the Dimensional Gate’s relocation and asked Orochimaru to study its mysterious second ring. He recruited Wanda and Pietro into the Cloud-Lightning Federation, assigning Wanda to study magic in Sea City and Pietro to train with Chakra aboard Cloud-Lightning Maru.

• Dana and Orochimaru inspected the Dimensional Gate and discussed moving the Shinobi World entrance to a new base outside Cloud Capital.
