Attack? Recruitment? A week later.
Refine chakra, form hand seals, release—
Earth Release: Earth Flow Wall
Bang! A puff of white smoke rose, but nothing happened.
"Just as I thought, I can't cast it." Lin Ke shook his head, sat down wearily, and popped a Soldier Pill into his mouth.
Every ninjutsu had a standard for success—that was, what it was supposed to look like when successfully cast.
When Sasuke first practiced the Great Fireball, even his failures produced a small burst of flame.
But things were a little different for him. If a ninjutsu failed to reach the required standard, the chakra would simply be consumed and turn into white smoke, with nothing happening.
The reason for his failures was simple—
He did not have enough chakra, yet he was trying to reduce the chakra consumption of his mutated ninjutsu.
A B-rank ninjutsu like Earth Flow River, Earth Flow Wall, or Earth Flow Severance consumed eighty or ninety percent of his chakra in one go. Without using his trump card, their practicality was practically zero.
After using one, he could only eat and sleep, then wait until he woke up with his stamina nearly restored before casting a second.
Over the past two days, Lin Ke had been trying to reduce the chakra consumption, but mutated ninjutsu had tempers too. If the chakra did not meet the standard, they simply would not activate.
The original versions could lower their chakra consumption to produce weaker versions. He could not. There was simply a threshold: below it, the technique failed; above it, any amount of chakra worked. He did not need to control it at all, and there was no limit on its power.
So I've really reached the stage where a ninja's battle is a battle of chakra.
