Liuyun concealed his newly awakened Sharingan while growing close to Kushina and repeatedly defending her from hostile Uchiha students. After Uchiha Kazuhiko apologized, Liuyun remained wary of the clan and planned to redirect its hostility before it could unite against them.

• Ye Liuyun's memories fused with Uchiha Liuyun's, awakening the Three-Tomoe Sharingan, and Liuyun persuaded Kushina to keep it secret.
• Liuyun and Kushina bonded at the Ninja Academy, standing up to classmates who mocked them and protecting each other through fights with Uchiha students.
• After Uchiha Kazuhiko attacked Kushina with a kunai, Sarutobi Hiruzen expelled him, while Uchiha Tou and other clan members sought to challenge the punishment and blame Liuyun.
• Uchiha students cornered Liuyun and Kushina after class, but the two fought them off until Orochimaru appeared and met Liuyun.
• Liuyun trained with Might Duy, practiced the Shadow Clone and Water Walking techniques, and brought homemade food to Asuka at her factory.
• Uchiha Ayane brought Kazuhiko to apologize to Liuyun and Kushina, but Liuyun refused their fruit basket and questioned whether Kazuhiko had sent the youths who attacked them.
• After Ayane and Kazuhiko left, Liuyun told Kushina he planned to redirect the Uchiha's hatred so their clan would not target the two of them together.

Liuyun grew stronger through training, developed Chidori with Orochimaru’s guidance, and grew closer to Kushina while learning sealing techniques. After a misunderstanding over the Bell Bracelet, Kushina fled in tears, and Liuyun left the village with Orochimaru and Nawaki on a confidential mission.

• Asuka met Kushina at Liuyun’s home, teased the two children about being a couple, and learned Kushina had taught Liuyun to cook.
• Liuyun and Kushina ignored a public brawl among Uchiha students, then became known as the Black and Red Demons after defeating Sato’s group and rescuing Kushina from Sato’s Genin brother.
• Liuyun partnered with Toriyama Akira to publish Dragon Ball, earned money from its early profits, and began training with Chakra and Lightning Release.
• After the final exams, Orochimaru questioned Liuyun about his hidden strength and helped him complete Chidori, an A-rank Lightning Release technique.
• Kushina offered to teach Liuyun Sealing Techniques, and Mito Uzumaki later revealed that Liuyun had powerful Pupil Power, Jonin-level Chakra reserves, and might have awakened his Sharingan.
• Liuyun bought Kushina a butterfly hairpin and a Bell Bracelet, but she misread his decision to release her hand as proof his feelings were false and fled in tears.
• Liuyun studied Kushina’s sealing scrolls while she vowed never to speak to him again, then accepted Orochimaru’s invitation to observe a confidential mission outside the village.

Liuyun tried to preserve his family’s place in the Uchiha clan while deepening his bond with Kushina, then joined Orochimaru and Nawaki on increasingly brutal missions. The arc left Liuyun and Nawaki watching as Ryūchi Cave’s giant snakes attacked Black Cloud Fortress.

• Orochimaru tested Liuyun and Nawaki at a bandit stronghold, where Liuyun killed a wounded bandit and helped feed the dead to Manda.
• Liuyun and Kushina reconciled, trained together, and learned more about each other as Liuyun’s mother prepared to open a flower shop.
• Liuyun agreed to represent Asuka at the Uchiha Clan Meeting to protect their family’s standing and their access to Uchiha Sheng’s grave.
• Liuyun provoked Uchiha Fugaku and Uchiha Kazuhiko at the meeting, and Kazuhiko awakened his Sharingan during their dispute.
• Fugaku’s Genin followers pursued Liuyun, but Uchiha Chen intervened and was beaten after the attackers mistook him for Liuyun.
• Sarutobi Hiruzen and the other leaders observed Liuyun and Kushina, while Tsunade kept Mito Uzumaki’s request to protect Liuyun’s secret.
• Orochimaru led Liuyun and Nawaki to ambush Takigakure Village ninja, and the three later cleared a bandit den before traveling onward.
• At Black Cloud Fortress, Orochimaru ordered Liuyun and Nawaki to guard the exits while Ryūchi Cave’s snakes attacked the bandits.

Liuyun returned from his mission, confronted the Uchiha over Fugaku’s challenge, and tried to warn Mito Uzumaki about Nawaki’s fate. Nawaki died in the Rain Country war, while Liuyun returned to school and competed in the new semester’s ranking tournament.

• Liuyun returned to Konoha, reunited with Asuka and Kushina, and refused Sarutobi Hiruzen’s offer of early graduation.
• After suspecting Uchiha Fugaku was watching him, Liuyun defeated Uchiha Kazuhiko and fought Fugaku, forcing him to concede.
• Liuyun befriended Shikaku Nara, Inoichi Yamanaka, and Choza Akimichi, then privately warned Mito Uzumaki that Nawaki might die if he went to war.
• The Land of Rain declared war, Mito forbade Nawaki from going, then relented, and Nawaki died in an Exploding Tag trap after departing with Orochimaru.
• Liuyun tried to comfort Mito after Nawaki’s death and warned her that the Nine-Tails’ chakra was leaking out, and Mito then resolved to investigate Madara Uchiha.
• Hanzo defeated the Three Ninja, and as the war continued, Liuyun returned to the academy, where Kushina gathered Uchiha students around him.
• During the ranking tournament, Kushina defeated Sasaki Kameda, Minato Namikaze won his match, and Liuyun quickly defeated Takahashi Koya.
• Liuyun and Kushina turned their match against each other into playful dance moves, and Liuyun surrendered, disappointing Minato.
