A surge of heat rolled down his throat and into his stomach.

There was no then.

The heat entered his stomach as if it had fallen into an invisible black hole, vanishing without a trace.

Li Yu was about to ask Yin Luo whether the pill was fake when a voice suddenly rang out in his mind, making his entire body tremble.

"System startup complete."

"Binding system..."

"System binding successful."

"Dear user, welcome to the Myriad Realms System Shop."

"Ha ha! It finally started! I finally don't have to be a weakling anymore!"

Li Yu was overjoyed and could not help laughing aloud.

"Yu-ge'er..."

Yin Luo opened her mouth, unsure how to begin.

Her willow-like brows were tightly furrowed, and there was a faint hint of sorrow in the way she looked at Li Yu. Yin Luo secretly sighed. "Did this pill... do nothing at all?"

Yin Luo had taken an Essence Nourishing Blood Pill before. She knew what reaction it should cause.

Yet after Li Yu swallowed the pill, his blood and qi did not surge, his face did not turn red, nor did his whole body heat up and sweat pour from him. It was exactly as though he had not taken the pill at all—there was not the slightest reaction.

Still no good? Is Yu-ge'er really not going to live much longer?

Seeing Li Yu swallow the pill without showing any unusual signs, Yin Luo felt as though someone had fiercely squeezed her heart. Her nose stung with emotion.

If Li Yu had known what Yin Luo was thinking, he would have burst out laughing. His body was perfectly normal—how could he possibly be dying young?

Li Yu rose with a laugh and cupped his hands toward Yin Luo in gratitude. "Thank you! Thank you, Manager Yin. This pill has helped me tremendously."

The system had started and resolved Li Yu's urgent predicament. His thanks were completely sincere.

Yin Luo froze for a moment, then looked up at Li Yu and forced an ugly smile.

Are you trying to comfort me? You don't want me to know this pill was completely useless, and you don't want to disappoint me? But... who is going to comfort you?

With a thought, the System Template opened.
