A happy, joyful night passed, and the Underworld Moon set sail once more. Passing through Twin Capes, it headed for Whiskey Peak Island on one of the seven central routes of the Grand Line.
Although Twin Capes was home to Croccus, the ship doctor of Pirate King Roger, Carlos was not particularly interested in him. He was more interested in the whale Laboon.
However, by sheer coincidence, Laboon might have gone off to feed when they passed through. They did not witness the sight of Laboon ramming into the Red Line.
They did not see Croccus either. Carlos swept the area around the lighthouse with his sharp eyesight but found nothing. He guessed Croccus had probably gone inside Laboon to build himself a house.
Though he was somewhat disappointed not to meet them, Carlos quickly returned to normal.
After entering the Grand Line, there were seven different routes. These seven routes were largely independent, with only a small number of overlapping islands. The adventures and scenery along each route were different.
The Straw Hat Pirates chose the central route beginning at Whiskey Peak, and Carlos chose the same route. It was not because Carlos had to follow the Straw Hat Pirates' path, but because this route contained something he wanted in his plans.
That thing was the Rumble-Rumble Fruit on Sky Island. Whether Enel had eaten that Devil Fruit or not, Carlos intended to get it under his control.
If Enel had not eaten it, that would be ideal. Carlos could take the Rumble-Rumble Fruit and keep it until he found someone he trusted, someone with tremendous potential, to give it to.
