v3.21 adds a page for every fandom, genre and tag, daily movement on Popular, a rebuilt Stats page and a Membership page. It also makes DaoSearch links work on the Request page, adds JJWXC for fully free novels, and tells you in plain words why a chapter or a request has no text.

Requests#

  • DaoSearch links work on the Request page. Paste a DaoSearch book link (daosearch.io/...), or a Qidian, Faloo or Zongheng book link. A book DaoSearch lists on Fanqie, Qimao or a fully free JJWXC page is added from there; any other becomes a search for the book on our supported sites, and spends nothing from your novel requests. DaoSearch's Request a translation button now sends its link straight away when you're signed in. See Links that become a search.
  • JJWXC is a new source, for fully free novels. A JJWXC novel that sells any of its chapters is looked for on our other sites instead. See Supported Sources.
  • A Fanqie novel that Fanqie took down now becomes a search on our other sites, with a line saying so, instead of a failed request.
  • Clearer failure messages. A failed request now says in one plain sentence what went wrong and what to do next, never the source site's raw error, and has a Search other sites button when another site may have the novel. It is still refunded in full.
  • Nothing is spent on a request that never runs. A novel request or wiki request that fails to start on our side, and an AI suggestions request or a Find the Original Term lookup that gets no answer, give back what they used.
  • A novel already on the site under a different spelling of its link opens the existing novel instead of being added twice.

Discover#

  • Categories: new pages list every fandom, genre and tag with how many novels it has, each leading to Browse filtered to it. Find them under Categories in the sidebar.
  • Popular shows how each novel moved since yesterday. The arrow beside a rank is its change on that exact list (the period and filters you have chosen, All Time included), and New marks a novel that wasn't on it yesterday. See Popular.
  • Browse and Popular rows show two lines of the story, with the rank on the cover's corner. The author's tag lines, "Synopsis:" labels, decoration and box art are skipped, so the lines start with the story.
  • Alternate names: a novel's page lists the other titles it has gone by, in English and in Chinese, above its tags.
  • A novel whose source description is only a placeholder or an advert shows its AI description instead.

Reading#

  • A chapter with no text says why. In place of a generic line it tells you what the source actually has: a placeholder, a chapter not uploaded yet, a notice, the previous chapter's text, or a broken page, and when it will be checked again. A chapter removed by moderation says so.
  • Paid chapters are marked as such. A chapter the source site sells shows This chapter is not available here with the reason, and no Rescrape button, since it can't be fetched.
  • Chapter titles drop the author's appeals for votes, subscriptions and monthly tickets (求月票 and the like), existing titles included, and titles that repeated their own chapter number were fixed.
  • Fewer broken chapters. Very short placeholder chapters are fetched again until the source posts the real text, then translated. A page that repeats the previous chapter, a site's "book removed" notice, an author's decoy chapter and source-site advert lines are no longer saved as chapter text.
  • No waiting on a queued chapter. Opening a chapter that is queued for translation streams it to you live, and a chapter being redone for quality shows its current translation meanwhile.
  • A chapter the translation models refuse is now tried on one more model before it falls back to the edited version.
  • Recaps: a new page tells a novel's story a volume (100 chapters) at a time, with a recap for each 25-chapter arc, on the same page as chapter summaries: Recaps in the novel's More menu. Recaps are written in the background novel by novel, so many parts still say No recap yet. See Recaps.
  • Past chapter 50 without a membership, a line under the chapter says it was shown in Google Translate, and each side of the AI | GT switch says what it is.
  • Read from here works on a system box, and a chapter's Prev and Next can be opened in a new tab.

Glossary#

  • Shared glossary genres. On a novel's General tab, the Shared glossary button (an icon beside the search on a phone) lets the novel use the shared terms of up to three more genres besides its own, for a story that mixes them. The novel's genre, Browse and search don't change, and a fan-fiction keeps its fandom glossary instead. See Shared glossary genres.
  • The General tab works like Local: the shared terms that occur in the novel, with mentions and chapters, search, type filter, sort, an Inclusion filter, and switches saved together with one reason.
  • New names follow their family. A new term built on a known one, such as a surname plus a known rank, keeps the known term's English, so related names read alike.
  • Renames are safer. Renaming a glossary term no longer changes longer names that contain it, words like "won't", another novel's wikis or a name someone chose, and never doubles a name.
  • A novel's Wikis page is ordered by mentions in that novel, with a type filter, search, and Most viewed, Name and Newest orders.

Community#

  • Eight leaderboards: Overall, Readers, Chapters, Contributors, Uploaders, Reviewers, Commenters and Most liked, with your position on every one and your own row marked. Replies now count on Reviewers, Commenters and Most liked. See Leaderboards.
  • Reviews, comments and replies written in another language are shown in English, with Show original. Your own posts show your own words first.
  • Signed out, the sidebar shows the account menu as a preview that asks you to sign in.

Stats and Membership#

  • A rebuilt Stats page: this week beside last week, growth charts, top fandoms and most-read novels, and which AI models did the translation, glossary, wiki and image work.
  • A new Membership page, also in the account menu: what each tier gives, one Patreon button per paid tier, and I just joined, refresh my tier to pick up a new pledge at once.
  • Tiers are called Reader, Translator: Base and Translator: Pro everywhere, instead of by price. See Tiers.

Sources#

  • wcshuba.com fetches reliably again, past its slider check, and tongrenshe and ffxs8 follow their new addresses.
  • twkan chapters keep a paragraph the site draws as a picture, a block a source printed twice is kept once, and oop.tw chapters come in the site's own order, with lines it prints back to front turned around.
  • min-yuan chapters that failed on a bad connection are fetched again.
  • Pages that aren't Chinese chapter text are no longer sent for translation.

Fixes#

  • A patron is no longer signed out when Patreon renews their sign-in in the background.
  • A notification you've read no longer turns unread again, and saved-search alerts keep an "off" filter off.
  • A locked monthly row on the Limits page counts down to the month's reset instead of reading "Reset now".
  • A reader sent to someone else's running retranslate or rescrape of a chapter now sees it finish.
  • Cancel stops an offline download at once, and display settings work in a browser that blocks site data.
  • Screen readers hear the Request page's search progress and errors, and the phone menu, sidebar and reader tools are named and keyboard friendly.
