History

The Eternal Mist is a recurring Great Calamity of the Profound Sea Domain. Its previous appearance preceded the current one by more than twenty million years, and its expansion periods occur roughly once every twenty-odd million years. Each outbreak endangers living beings outside the Profound Sea Continent, whose encompassing realm-space can resist the mist's erosion. 846 1006

It spreads through the Chaos Void, consuming survivable space and forcing displaced cultivators to flee. A breach in the Profound Sea Continent's protective barrier later allowed a small amount of mist to seep inside, alarming the domain's major races. 1021 1110

The mist is rumored to seep from deeper layers of the Black Prison Void. During Lin Zheyu's World Lord tribulation, it eroded an entire region of void until the region was set to fall into the Black Prison Void and be assimilated along with him. This origin remains unconfirmed. 949

Appearance

The Eternal Mist usually appears as inconspicuous gray fog, but its presence is easy for cultivators' senses to overlook. In dense regions, it churns across the void like a boundless sea and can form enormous vortices around those who absorb it. 890 1059

Erosion and Assimilation

The Eternal Mist silently erodes flesh, mind, Origin True Spirit, Inner Cosmic Voids, and even World Seeds. Its erosion bypasses ordinary physical defenses and can eventually cause an affected being to lose itself and become part of the mist. 948 1021 1059

• Its influence on the Origin True Spirit cannot be directly detected or restored with Source Power while it is active. Recovery requires leaving the mist and allowing time to pass. 1021

The mist is an exceptional natural barrier against divination, aura-tracking, and karmic detection. It can isolate the Chaos Void, obscure heavenly secrets, sever karmic threads, and conceal a being's presence. 1060 1150

• Lin Zheyu uses it as the core of his Pure World Art to restrain the Era Remnant Sun Brand, though doing so exposes his Inner Cosmic Void to erosion. 1058

A failed Tier 4 Small World within Eternal Silence City contains gray fog resembling the Eternal Mist. Its incomplete world origin shares similarities with the mist but is cruder and less complete. 1206 1207

Lin Zheyu speculates that this failed world may be a semi-finished imitation of the Eternal Mist, possibly produced through an attempt to research it. This remains conjecture rather than an established origin for the Eternal Mist. 1207
