Woof! Woof!
Loud barking suddenly rang out from the dense forest.
Several Mountain Patrol Hounds burst out at once.
Mountain Patrol Hounds were lean-bodied and exceptionally alert. Skilled at tracking and surrounding prey in the forest, they were hunters' finest companions and helpers.
The next moment, accompanied by snorting, panting breaths, a massive black-furred boar charged out after them.
Not only was this boar extraordinarily huge, but the two tusks protruding from the corners of its mouth were exceptionally long, gleaming with a silvery-gray metallic sheen and sharpened to razor points.
This was a first-tier Tusked Boar, a petty tyrant of the mountain forests. Its hide was exceptionally tough and hard, impervious to blades, spears, water, and fire. It possessed immense strength and a fierce wild nature.
Ordinary hunters would give Tusked Boars a wide berth, not daring to test the power of their tusks.
Most terrifying of all, whenever a Tusked Boar appeared, it was bound to come as a litter—or even a herd.
Behind this Tusked Boar followed more than a dozen others of varying sizes.
They crashed through the vines and saplings blocking their path with a rumble, following their leader in pursuit of the fleeing Mountain Patrol Hounds.
Yet at the very instant the entire herd burst from the woods, a sudden change occurred!
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Pitch-black arrows suddenly tore through the air. Their triangular heads glimmered with dark golden light as they crossed more than a hundred paces in an instant, colliding head-on with the boars.
Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!
Though Tusked Boar hide rivaled a warrior's armor and possessed astonishing resilience, these arrows clearly carried special armor-piercing power. So long as they struck, they would punch straight through.
Moreover, the archers ambushing the herd possessed exceptional skill. Fewer than one in ten arrows missed.
