"Ronan!"
Ronan had just stepped out of the academy gates when a carriage came racing over and barely stopped in front of him.
Alfred leaped down from the carriage and asked excitedly, "Where are you going?"
Ronan shrugged. "Out to buy a few things."
The Higher Police Academy managed its trainee students rather loosely. There was no need to check in for daily classes, requests to leave campus were generally approved, and as long as they earned enough credits, they would receive a graduation certificate.
Ronan was far from the only one who frequently went out during class hours.
Alfred smiled. "Perfect. I've already found a collector willing to make a move with Master Bridges's works!"
Ronan was surprised. "That fast?"
He had only mentioned the matter to Alfred a few days ago. He had not expected the latter to act so swiftly.
"It was just a coincidence."
Alfred said smugly, "Get in. I'll take you to that collector's home."
Ronan followed him into the carriage.
As they traveled, Alfred said solemnly to Ronan, "Ronan, thank you so much for last night."
In truth, if Ronan had not saved him last night, Alfred would not have rushed to help him find a seller.
Ronan smiled. "You already thanked me. It was nothing."
"That's not it."
Alfred shook his head, his expression turning grave. "Shaquille isn't an ordinary person. He's the son of an Earl, and the kingdom has been courting Northern Barbarian families in recent years. I'm worried he'll cause you trouble."
Afterward, Alfred had been deeply annoyed with himself, regretting that he had let his blood rush to his head and provoked Shaquille.
Though Shaquille had been overbearing at the time, he had not been so audacious as to actually do anything improper to Michelle.
After all, she was
