In the chief's office on the third floor, also the top floor of the precinct, Ford Hamilton asked calmly, "How have you been finding things at the precinct lately?"
Ronan, seated across from him, smiled. "Pretty good."

The first reason for his dislike was that Clemond, a Senior Detective from the Ceres General Police Bureau, had been Ford Hamilton's old friend for many years. They had once fought side by side and forged a deep friendship.
Yet because of Ronan, Clemond had been demoted to an ordinary officer, and decades of hard work had gone up in smoke!
Now Ronan had come to intern under Ford Hamilton. How could he possibly give Ronan a pleasant look?
