Kage looked at Sengoku and said, "Fleet Admiral, I was that kid's instructor in the Recruit Camp. Now that he's applying for his graduation assessment, I should naturally be the examiner. I want to know just how much he has improved under Teacher Zephyr!"
Hmph! Just as I thought! Hearing this, Stroberi confirmed his suspicions. That kid really was part of Kage's faction!
Before Sengoku could speak, Stroberi said, "Fleet Admiral Sengoku, I don't think Rear Admiral Kage should serve as the examiner. First, Rear Admiral Kage still has duties in the Training Camp. Second, I'm worried he might go easy on him because he used to be his instructor."
"Bullshit!" Kage immediately cursed. "Stroberi, what do you mean by that? Do you think I'd do something as shameless as favoritism?"
Stroberi snorted coldly. "That remains to be seen!"
Kage was about to blow up, but Sengoku stopped him.
"Enough. Stop arguing."
Sengoku snorted, his voice stern. "Rear Admiral Stroberi, that was a bit too harsh. Who would dare show favoritism in front of everyone? But Rear Admiral Kage, you too—do you not know what kind of occasion this is?"
"My apologies, Fleet Admiral Sengoku."
"I was impulsive."
The two spoke at the same time. They were still somewhat intimidated by Sengoku.
After reprimanding each of them, Sengoku continued, "The two of you are both among the best of the rear admirals. Either of you would be suitable as the examiner."
After thinking for a moment, Sengoku said, "How about this? Since both of you want the position, settle it with rock-paper-scissors."
The two stared at each other. That was an option?
In truth, Sengoku had not wanted to handle it this way. In the past, whenever such situations arose, everyone would shirk the responsibility and show extreme reluctance.
