Halfway through its voyage, the Eclipse Sun was suddenly jolted by violent tremors within the Ancient Giant Whale. Some organs along the inner walls spewed acidic fluid resembling sulfuric Acid Rain. Even the slightest contact brought terrifying corrosion; even Divine Weapons would melt away.
The Ancient Giant Whale was digesting the food within its body while also clearing out some of its "residents." To it, those were actually one and the same.
