"Beg me? Keep dreaming. Even with a blade at my throat, I would never beg you." Zhao XiaoMan rolled her eyes at the Masked Man.
"Hehe, don't be so absolute," the Masked Man said with a smile.
"Wait and see. Even if you live next door to me, I'll never have anything to do with you."
"Fine, fine. Wait and see."
"Hmph."
Zhao XiaoMan snorted heavily, turned, and prepared to leave, her skirt billowing like waves.
"Hey, you haven't introduced yourself yet! Miss, could you leave me your name?" the Masked Man called after her.
"Why should I tell you my name?" Zhao XiaoMan said without looking back.
"Then I'll just give you a name myself."
"You wouldn't dare!"
"It's just the two of us here. We'll be seeing each other all the time, so we need some way to address each other."
Zhao XiaoMan thought it over. Unwilling to let him randomly name her, she gave him an alias she had used before.
"My name is Zhao WuChen!"
"Zhao WuChen... that name sounds very familiar." The Masked Man spoke teasingly.
"Don't try to get friendly with me."
Zhao XiaoMan ignored him and headed for her own territory, her stomach full of anger.
Angry as she was, Zhao XiaoMan felt something else deep down. She had lived alone for over a year, lonely and isolated. Today, she had encountered a second person, shattering her previously quiet and dull life. How could her heart remain unmoved?
Of course, she would never admit to such little thoughts.
She reached her territory and looked at the shattered wooden hut, gritting her pearly teeth. The wooden house she had painstakingly built was gone just like that.
