The so-called Blood Night was a recurring disaster triggered by the Crimson Moon.
God Vast Star had suffered nine great calamities in total. The third was brought about by a powerful demon beast, leaving devastation and misery in its wake. The strongest humans gathered together and joined forces to slay the beast, finally bringing that catastrophe to an end.
That demon beast had been far too powerful. Even after dying, it did not rest in peace. Instead, it transformed into a new moon that orbited God Vast Star. That was the origin of the Crimson Moon.
Human experts had tried to destroy the Crimson Moon, but before long, it would re-form. It could not be eradicated completely.
Left with no alternative, people could only let it be and accept the newborn moon.
The Crimson Moon carried the beast's lingering might, as well as an intense resentment bent on taking revenge against the human world. Every so often, it would erupt and bloom with an eerie red light. That was Blood Night.
Under the illumination of the Crimson Moon, every demon beast on God Vast Star would become extraordinarily violent. Even demon pets would be affected and break free from their masters' control.
With tens of thousands of demon beasts going mad, the consequences were easy to imagine. It was an outright disaster.
Whenever Blood Night arrived, humanity had to fight endless demon beasts until it passed.
Blood Night followed a fixed cycle. Tomorrow night would be the next Blood Night.
This Blood Night was destined to be different.
The bedchamber was adorned with carved beams and painted rafters, luxurious in every way befitting royalty. Most of its decorations featured phoenixes.
This was Phoenix Woman's bedchamber. There was only one man in the world permitted to enter it.
