Huo County
Future Technology Headquarters.
Li Zhou was wearing flip-flops, his legs propped up on the desk.
With a cup of hot tea, it was incredibly comfortable. If he could find two beautiful little secretaries to place here, life would be as blissful as an immortal's.
Li Zhou decided that when he had time, he would go to Kyoto and recruit two exceptionally capable secretaries from the university.
However, this matter would have to wait. Li Zhou felt a headache looking at the three ultra-high-definition curved screens on the large office desk in front of him.
On the three screens were lines of code written by the company's IT department, all planned and organized by Li Zhou. To be honest, Li Zhou was very dissatisfied with the code they had written, but at least all the code merged together could barely run.
But what Li Zhou wanted was a high-speed bullet train. It was one thing that they couldn't reach his goal and only built him a car. But what was going on with the wheels of that car? Clearly, it was equipped with four car tires, so what was with the two bicycle tires at the back that had a different flavor?
This made Li Zhou very confused. When did bicycle tires start being used as car tires!
Even more outrageous was that the little broken car could still reach a speed of 100 yards.
To train the company's IT department, Li Zhou had insisted on handing over the operating system he named "Star" to them for development. Fortunately, all the functions were developed and could be used normally, but he felt more and more displeased the more he looked at it.
Li Zhou didn't dare to easily modify this garbage code. If he moved one character, the "car" might just fall apart.
This was truly not an impossible scenario.
Li Zhou stared at the code for a long time. If he were to optimize it himself, with that much time, he might as well tear down the existing framework and rewrite the code from scratch. In that case, it might even be faster.
Li Zhou sighed heavily in frustration.
"Sigh!"
"Weixi, have Ming Qiong from the IT department come to my office."
"Really, I thought they could all stand on their own. With code like this, wouldn't outsiders laugh themselves to death if they saw it? If we make others laugh, what good does it do us?"
"Okay, boss, Weixi has notified Ming Qiong from the IT department."
At the same moment, Ming Qiong, who was sitting in front of her computer typing code, heard the voice from the office intercom.
"Ms. Ming Qiong, Chairman Li Zhou requests your presence in his office now."
Ming Qiong, who was typing code, froze for a moment, then nodded.
"Okay, I understand."
The others were not surprised by the conversation between Weixi and Ming Qiong. After these few days of interaction, everyone had become accustomed to Weixi's existence.
Not to mention that Weixi's existence had made things much more convenient for everyone.
They no longer had to carry an access card every day like before, and sometimes they even worried about losing it.
There was no need for the tedious daily clock-ins anymore. Now, as long as you arrived at the company, your face would be recognized automatically when entering or leaving the company.
Ming Qiong took the elevator to the rarely visited -10F and nervously knocked on the Chairman's office door.
Knock~knock~knock~
Zhou Song heard the knock, opened the door, and looked down to see a short girl – Ming Qiong.
Zhou Song nodded at Ming Qiong, let her in, and then casually closed the door.
-
The offices on the entire 10F were not like the main part above ground, which had transparent tempered glass. Instead, they were all reinforced concrete structures with soundproofing treatment.
Ming Qiong saw Zhou Song close the door casually and, for some reason, her heart suddenly skipped a beat.
"Chairman, you sent for me?"
Li Zhou glanced at Ming Qiong and silently took his feet off the desk.
"En, come and take a look."
Ming Qiong, not understanding why, walked nervously behind Li Zhou under the watchful eyes of Zhou Song and the others, and looked at the three large screens on the desk.
The moment she saw the pile of Chinese code on the screen, Ming Qiong's heart became even more nervous.
Could it be that the code written by everyone had a problem? But everyone could only see their own part, and it was hard to say if there were any issues.
Li Zhou raised his eyebrows and said, "Take a look at this code, how is it written?"
Ming Qiong stared at the computer screen for a long time and couldn't find any errors.
"Chairman, this code doesn't seem to have any errors, right?" Ming Qiong's tone was a little uncertain.
After all, if there were no problems, the Chairman wouldn't have suddenly summoned her.
"Heh! There are no obvious errors."
"Then...?"
Li Zhou rotated his chair, turned around, and looked at Ming Qiong.
"Does your car use bicycle tires? And is the steering wheel like a tractor's?"
"I thought you were building cars, but if someone didn't know better, they'd think you were building some kind of chimera. Are the standards in your IT department always this low? Since when is it acceptable for a major company's code to just… work?
Can a person run at the same speed as a car?"
Li Zhou got more and more animated as he spoke, berating Ming Qiong for a full ten minutes.
Ming Qiong, standing there, blushed and lowered her head, not daring to make a sound.
After speaking for ten minutes, Li Zhou felt his throat starting to get dry.
Li Zhou picked up his teacup, took a sip of the cool tea, and was silent for a moment.
"I'll find a university professor to give you all a lecture on software engineering and code optimization. You will all listen carefully and learn diligently. After that, if you submit garbage code like this again, you can pack your bags and leave."
Ming Qiong didn't dare to look up and meet the Chairman's gaze. She just nodded repeatedly, like a chick pecking at rice.
"Alright, you can go back! Have a meeting within your department and conduct a self-reflection."
Ming Qiong didn't know how she managed to leave the Chairman's office. Her mind was still replaying the Chairman's words, and she walked right past the elevator entrance without even noticing.
"Ms. Ming Qiong, you have reached an area for which you do not have clearance. Please stop immediately."
Hearing Weixi's warning, Ming Qiong was startled. Only then did she realize she had been lost in thought and had walked past the elevator entrance.
In the office, Li Zhou watched Ming Qiong leave in a daze, swaying unsteadily. He even started to doubt if he had been too harsh.
Li Zhou shook his head. If she was so easily discouraged, it would be better for both her and the company if she retired sooner rather than later.
"Weixi, optimize the Star Operating System and conduct comprehensive testing."
"Okay, Boss. Weixi will begin optimizing the Star Operating System and conducting tests. Estimated time: three minutes."
While waiting, Li Zhou went to the restroom. For some reason, he felt like he had to urinate more when it rained.
Upon returning from the restroom, Li Zhou found that Weixi had already finished optimizing all the code for the Star Operating System.
"Weixi, compile and package the Star Operating System, then distribute it to the IT department and Xiong Kexuan."
"Star Operating System compilation and packaging complete…"
"Star Operating System has been distributed to the IT department and CEO Xiong Kexuan."
The moment Weixi finished the distribution, internal work software for all of the IT department and Xiong Kexuan chimed with notification sounds.
"Ding~~~"
