Xu Jing reached out and lifted the lid of the pot. With a startled cry, she leaped into Zhang Xuan's arms, her face filled with terror as her body trembled. She did not dare look into the pot.
"Quick, get it away!"
Zhang Xuan grinned mockingly and stroked Xu Jing's back. "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid! It's dead."
Inside the pot lay a section of snake head, its venomous fangs bared and its white eyes bulging. It looked utterly horrifying. No wonder Xu Jing had reacted that way.
