Gongsun Yan took Ning Zhuo's reply and followed the Flying Letter all the way to a mountain peak. He stopped before one of the cave abodes there and, holding Ning Zhuo's reply, requested an audience.
The cave abode opened, and Gongsun Yan was welcomed inside.
Inside the cave abode, a small banquet was underway. There were songs and dances, fine dishes and good wine, and the atmosphere was lively.
The host and honored guest of the banquet were Pi Fuxie and Ban Ji.
Pi Fuxie's head was full of gray hair, his eye sockets sunken deep like a skull's, and he was still draped in that broad ritual robe sewn from skin. Only now, there was no arrogance left in his expression. Instead, his face was piled with smiles as he murmured with Ban Ji beside him.
Gongsun Yan knew of Pi Fuxie. Naturally, Ning Zhuo would inform his subordinates about those he had made enemies with. Understanding that the other party bore intense hostility, he remained expressionless and showed no fear.
Seeing the Flying Letter follow the aura and fly straight to Ban Ji, Gongsun Yan focused his attention on him.
Ban Ji looked like a young man, his complexion somewhat yellow, his cheekbones slightly high, his nose bridge
