Western Desert, along a certain trade route.
"Kill them! Kill these beasts, and the money and goods will all be ours!"
"Rob them blind!!"
"Hold the line! Everyone, hold the line! If we lose these goods, the master will never spare us!"
The cries of battle were deafening. Around a low sand dune, a bloody slaughter between bandits and a caravan was unfolding.
This bandit gang had roamed the desert for years, committing crimes wherever they went. Every member was a Human Gu Master, vicious and valiant, battle-hardened, and highly skilled.
Meanwhile, humans were scarce in the caravan. The main force consisted of featherfolk.
Some of these featherfolk Gu Masters stood on the ground, guarding the cargo, while others flew through the air, locked in fierce battle with the bandits.
Wave after wave of fireballs shot through the air, heat rolling outward. Wind blades occasionally mixed among them, tracing treacherous paths through the sky before crashing into the opposing formations and stirring up sprays of blood.
In the Western Desert, fire path and wind path Gu Worms were widespread, and Gu Masters of these two paths were the most common.
A moment later, the bandits had firmly seized the upper hand, suffering few losses. The caravan, meanwhile, had sustained heavy casualties.
Han Li was wedged among the cargo, covered in blood, his brows and eyes blackened with soot.
During the fierce battle just now, he had unfortunately been struck by an invisible wind blade, which carved a long, deep wound across his chest that still bled without stopping. The black scorch marks around his brows and eyes came from a stray fireball that had landed beside him, sending scalding sand flying everywhere and covering most of his face.
"Damn it! Am I really going to leave my life here today?"
