Phew... At last, I had finished writing this segment of The Legend of Human Ancestor.
Clearly, this was the longest segment of The Legend of Human Ancestor so far. It was the product of roughly a week of planning.
It was difficult!
I revised it many times. Even in terms of imagery alone, I had to choose with utmost care. For example, predicament, strength and weakness, calamity and tribulation. The three images contained within predicament—bitterness, loss, and calamity and tribulation—had been carefully selected. At the beginning, there had been at least ten such images. Over the following days, I painfully cut away more than half of them. At the final hurdle, I removed the two images of difficulty and ease as well. Otherwise, the whole text would have been even longer.
This segment of The Legend of Human Ancestor needed to echo the main story. Thus, there were several stages in which Human Ancestor ate bitterness, suffered losses, endured disasters, and was eaten to death in body and soul. They respectively corresponded to Spectral Soul's Food Dao Killer Move, as well as Fang Yuan's own predicament.
Many readers should have noticed that the connection between this segment of The Legend of Human Ancestor and the main story was more of a contrast this time. The two lines faintly echoed one another. For example, Human Ancestor encountered the strongest predicament of his life in The Legend of Human Ancestor, and Fang Yuan was the same. Human Ancestor struggled at death's door; so did Spectral Soul, so did Fang Yuan, and so did others such as Wang Xiao Er. Wang Xiao Er was an important supporting character; everyone would understand as they kept reading.
